In 1996, Lorne happened upon a dimensional portal and was sucked through it. He landed in Los Angeles and discovered music and culture like he never imagined. Lorne learned to hone his mystical senses to read people's auras, but found it easiest to do so when they sang, baring their souls. He opened up a karaoke bar on the same spot that he arrived on Earth, an old abandoned building. Lorne contracted the Transuding Furies to cast a sanctuary spell on the spot, which stopped any demon violence from occurring on it. He named the bar "Caritas," the Latin word for "mercy."

Caritas became a success in the morally ambiguous Los Angeles underground scene. To most who visited the bar, Lorne was simply called "The Host." He later states that he didn't use the name "Lorne" in this dimension, because his striking green skin prompted people to make Lorne Greene jokes.

Lorne is always reluctant to help Angel and the other heroes of the series, preferring to maintain a neutral stance and simply provide a peaceful place for all demons, but his essential goodness usually wins out over his reticence. He starts off by giving the characters advice and encouragement, but as time goes on, he becomes more directly involved in the cases of Angel Investigations- even asking for Angel's help to avert the end of the world when Angel had severed ties with the rest of the group after Darla's resurrection- and his many contacts in Los Angeles' magical underworld prove useful. Lorne reluctantly joins the team in their mission to Pylea to rescue Cordelia, discovering that he could incapacitate the natives by singing songs and causing them to cower from the "strange sorcery." On leaving, he decides that returning to Pylea had been good for him as it had reaffirmed that he did not belong there and was right to stay away.

Caritas is raided by Charles Gunn's old gang and it is temporarily put out of action, finally being completely destroyed by Daniel Holtz. After that, Lorne finds himself becoming far more attached to the AI team, and he often looks after the infant Connor while Angel is on business. Eventually, he leaves to start a singing career in Las Vegas, Nevada. Unfortunately, a crime lord forces him, under threat of killing innocents, to use his empathic abilities to locate audience members with promising futures so he can steal them. Back in L.A. after being rescued by Angel, Gunn and Fred, Lorne helps restore Cordelia's lost memories and is part of the fight against the resulting Jasmine crisis.

Lorne is now the new head of Wolfram & Hart's Entertainment Division, at first fitting into the job with relative ease and making various business deals in the film industry. As time goes on, his kindness is slowly replaced by a growing cynicism and self-loathing of his position of "cheerleader" for Angel and his friends, particularly when Gunn is abandoned in a Hell dimension to recover Lindsey McDonald because Lindsey could possess information they needed; Lorne had always assumed that they didn't leave anyone behind.

When his close friend Fred is murdered and her body usurped by the Old One known as Illyria, Lorne becomes filled with despair which he keeps secret from the rest of his equally heartbroken friends.

After accepting that Xander does not return her feelings, Willow develops a relationship with werewolf and musician Oz. After the death of Giles' technopagan girlfriend Jenny Calendar, Willow begins to follow in her footsteps by studying witchcraft. When Angel loses his soul, and reverts to his evil 'Angelus' personality, Willow is the one to restore it magically.

Willow begins to become more heavily interested in magic; she, fellow witch Amy Madison and Buffy become the target of a witch-hunt, the evil vampire Spike tries to make Willow cast a love spell on the vampire Drusilla, and she magically aids Buffy against the Mayor and rogue vampire Slayer Faith. After Amy transforms herself into a rat, Willow keeps her as a pet.

Willow and Oz briefly break up when she cheats on him with Xander; they reconcile and Willow eventually loses her virginity to him.

Despite being accepted to universities such as Oxford, Harvard and Yale, Willow opts to attend UC Sunnydale so that she can continue to assist Buffy in the future.

Willow is seen flourishing in university life, and while not initially Buffy's roommate, the two later share a dormitory. Willow's heart is broken when Oz cheats on her with another werewolf, the musician Veruca; they break up and Oz moves away.

Willow casts a spell to make her pain go away which goes awry; witnessing the chaos she has caused, the demon D'Hoffryn offers to make Willow into a vengeance demon but she refuses.

Willow meets a shy girl named Tara at a Wicca convention, who seems to be the only other real witch and the two become friends. Soon after, they realise they have fallen in love and Willow eventually comes out to Buffy. Oz returns in an attempt to reconcile with Willow, but Willow loves Tara now and he leaves once again.

Willow reveals to Cordelia via phonecall that her best friend Harmony is now a vampire.

Willow casts a spell which shares her magic, Giles' intelligence, Xander's compassion and the power of the First Slayer with Buffy so that she can defeat Adam.

Willow continues to assist Buffy against the evil goddess Glory and in protecting Buffy's little sister, Dawn; because Dawn is the mystical "key" Glory seeks. She feuds with Xander's girlfriend Anya, and Anya's ex troll god Olaf tries to make Xander choose between them. Willow is enraged when Glory drives Tara insane, and tries to defeat her single-handedly by tapping into dangerous magicks for the first time, but fails.

Willow's power grows even greater: she erects a magical barrier to protect Dawn from Glory, she enters Buffy's mind to rescue her from her catatonic state, and gets her revenge on Glory. Willow ambushes Glory and restores Tara's sanity with a spell which also disorients the goddess, and telepathically co-ordinates the rest of the gang so that they may save Dawn. To save Dawn, Buffy sacrifices her own life; Willow travels to L.A. to inform Angel of Buffy's death.

Willow leads the "Scooby Gang" sans Buffy. Committed to bringing her friend back from the dead, Willow resurrects Buffy using very dark magic for which Giles later derides her. Willow and Tara argue due to Willow's over-active use of magic, and Willow goes so far as to erase Tara's memories of the argument magically. Tara discovers Willow's betrayal, and when Willow does it for a second time, Tara breaks up with her.

Willow goes off the deep end after she becomes powerful enough to turn Amy human again. Amy begins taking Willow to sorcery dealer Rack. After inadvertently causing a car accident that injures Dawn, Willow begs Buffy for help, fights the symptoms of withdrawal, and tells Amy that they are no longer friends. Willow and Tara finally reconcile, but their joy is short-lived when Warren shoots and accidentally kills Tara while trying to kill Buffy. Willow relapses and her grief pushes her over the edge, taking in evil magics and becoming black-haired and veiny. This new "Dark Willow" kills Warren by flaying him alive, and attempts to kill his acolytes, Andrew and Jonathan before attempting to end all pain by destroying the world. She defeats Buffy in battle, as well as the magically-infused Giles; the world is only saved when Xander tells her how much he loves her, and she is finally forced to confront her pain.

After this, Willow is living in England with Giles, learning to control her power. Her magical subconscious initially punishes Willow because she is afraid her friends will never forgive her. She returns too afraid to use magic to assist Buffy, even in the face of the omnipresent First Evil. When she transforms into the appearance of Warren, Willow feels it is because her subconscious is punishing her for her attraction to potential Slayer Kennedy, but it is actually due to Amy's vengeful magic; feeling she has let Tara rest, Willow begins to date Kennedy. She gradually becomes confident positively using her powers in small amounts but is forced to push them when brought to fight against a possessed Cordelia and again re-ensoul Angel.

Buffy urges Willow to perform a spell which will empower all the world's potential Slayers; Willow does not to succumb to evil and during the spell her hair glows white. The Slayer army defeat the First, destroying the Hellmouth and with it all of the depopulated Sunnydale.

Willow briefly worked at the Slayer School in Cleveland, alongside Giles, but after Heritage wiped out much of the Slayer population, the school was closed and she now works as a Consultant for Wolfram and Hart, alongside Giles.

Very musically gifted, outgoing, charismatic, has a knack for getting into trouble. Has recently developed a new power to help save innocent lives.
