Natalie gasped for breath as she felt her baby finally leave her body.
"Congratulations," said the doctor. "You have a girl."
Taylor
Taylor waited impatiently for the doctors to go about their business, first checking their little girl over to make sure she was good and healthy. His fingers were tingling in anticipation when they finally turned toward him.
"Do you want to hold her?"
"Of course," Taylor barely breathed, holding his arms out.
He took the tiny form ito his arms, immediately turning back to Natalie and going to sit in the chair beside her.
"She's beautiful, Nat. Congratulations," he whispered, leaning in to kiss her forehead.
Natalie
Natalie smiled.
"Thank you. Congratulations to you too," she replied.
Taylor
Taylor sat as close as he could to the bed so Natalie could still see their daughter as he started to wipe her face.
"She has your... everything," he chuckled.
Natalie
Natalie giggled.
"I don't know," she teased. "I'm sure that's your nose."
Taylor
Taylor tapped the nose gently, smiling broadly.
"Are you strong enough to hold her yet?" he asked.
Natalie
"Oh absolutely," Natalie replied.
She reached out eagerly.
Taylor
Taylor stood carefully, inching his way over to place the small bundle in his wife's arms.
Once they were settled, he sighed as he rubbed Natalie's forehead.
"What do you think about the name Georgia? Georgia Anne?" he asked softly, referencing the song he'd written the night she'd been concieved.
Natalie
Natalie looked down adoringly at their baby girl.
"As appropriate as that might be, it might get a little confusing, y'know, me coming from Georgia, having a song named Georgia and a daughter named Georgia," she replied thoughtfully. "Although I am rather taken with the idea of naming her after a song. I like Anne for a middle name though."
Taylor
"So do I," Taylor agreed wholeheartedly, "and besides, it's only fair."
He smirked a little, then glanced up at the doorway as a nurse walked by humming a familiar tune...
Natalie
Natalie looked up and smiled.
"Penny?" she suggested with a twinkle in her eye.
Taylor
Taylor chuckled.
"How could I possibly argue with that?"
He lean over and kissed his daughter's cheek, then Natale on the lips.
"Penelope Anne, then?"
Natalie
Natalie nodded decisively.
"Yes," she agreed. "It's beautiful. Just like Penny."
She smiled down at their daughter.
