25 December 2003 - The Christmas Present

Michelle and Joy

Max and Isabel

After spending the morning with his family, Max got himself ready to meet Liz at the park.

"Hey," Isabel said. "Where you going?"

"To meet Liz."

"Oh of course. Did I expect anything less?"

Max smiled and shook his head.

"You know, Christmas is meant for families to be together and I don't think that -"

"Izzy? I'm going. Don't go all Christmas Nazi on me."

Isabel poked her tongue out at him. Max chuckled and left.

Liz

LIz got all dressed up, after opening presents with her parents, and went out to meet Max. Someday, she decided, she was going to live somewhere it snowed.

"Hey Max!" she said, running into his arms, kissing him hard. "Merry Christmas!"

Max

Max kissed her back.

"Merry Christmas, Liz," he replied. "How was your morning?"

Liz

"MMM, good, and getting even better," she said, letting his arm slip around her. "Have I told you yet today how much I love you?"

Max

Max chuckled.

"Nope. But I know anyway. And I love you more," he replied. "Oh, I have a present for you."

He reached into his pocket and pulled out a small box wrapped in Christmas paper.

Liz

"Oh, and I thought you had forgotten," Liz blushed. She'd given Max his gift the night before, just a bottle of cologne, and a couple of cds he'd wanted. She tore the paper off carefully, and fount a small velvet box. She popped it open to see a beautiful diamond ring.

"Oh Max!" she gasped.

Max

Max at this point had gotten down on his knees. He covered her hands with his own.

"Will you marry me Liz?"

Liz

Liz nodded vigorously, swallowing. "Yes, yes I will!" She felt her eyes tear up.

Max

Max stood up and put the ring on her finger. Then with a whoop of delight, he swung her around and kissed her.

Liz

"I'm so excited, Max! I want to go tell everybody!" Liz cried, hugging him and kissing him with all her might.

Max

Max smiled.

"Really? Funny, so do I," he replied.

He touched her hair softly.

Liz

She kissed his cheek. "Um, my house is closer, so let's go there first," she suggested, slipping her hand into his.

Max

"Okay," Max agreed.

He squeezed her hand and they started heading for the Crashdown.

Liz

They went upstairs, and found her parents sitting around the Christmas tree, calling family members to wish them a Merry Christmas.

"Mom? Dad? I have some great news."

"Really, mija, what is it?" Her father asked,

"Max has asked me to marry him, and I've said yes!" she held up her left hand. She and her mother hugged each other and squealed, while Liz's father patted Max on the back.

"Welcome to the family."

Max

Max smiled.

"Thank you," he said.

"There is one condition, however."

"Yes?"

"You take good care of my girl."

Liz

Liz blushed. "I wanted to tell you guys first, but we still have to tell Max's family, and Maria and Michael. We can all celebrate later," Liz promised her parents, and with more hugs and kisses, they headed over to Max's house.

Isabel and Max

"You're back so soon?" Isabel commented as Max and Liz arrived.

"Mmm, yep. Where are Mom and Dad?"

"Dining room."

Liz

Liz leaned into Max's side. "You tell them," she said sweetly.

Max and Isabel

"Okay," Max smiled.

"Tell us what?" Isabel asked as they walked into the dining room.

"Well," Max said, his hand still encasing Liz's. "We're engaged."

Isabel and Liz

Isabel hugged Liz as the two girls squealed like little kids.

"Oh! WElcome to the family!" she said, excitedly.

Max

Max grinned.

"Well, congratulations," smiled Mrs Evans.

"Thanks."

Liz and Max

Max and Liz went around to tell Maria and Michael, who were both excited for thim. They lived together, but with no real plans of marriage, due to Michael's commitment phobia.
