Ralph was born in the labs and has known no other life. His parents, Lauren and Theodore championed their charter for Rainbow Valley, and their sudden death the night before their departure came as a shock to everyone. The death of his parents and moving to a new place all at once made Ralph scared and he tended to latch onto older brother Rex. He carried this fear into his teens, where he was determined to learn everything he could so that he would know how to look after himself in any given situation.
During Uni, Ralph dated Melissa Wren. Unfortunately, she was also seeing his dormmate, Travis Reid. It was the first thing to throw him off since they moved to Rainbow Valley and sent him further into his studies. Ralph succeeded in fulfilling his Life Choice, and was the second Rainbow Valley resident to do so, but his success left him without a direction, especially now that his relationship with Melissa was over, and his friendship with Travis was on the rocks.
Although he didn't have to, Ralph decided to change his life direction at the end of his sophomore year to Fortune. He met his future wife Vyn, and both Vyn and Melissa moved in with Travis and himself when they decided to move out of the dorms. Despite their history, Ralph was able to renew his friendship with Travis and Melissa.
After a publically exposed affair with Melissa, Ralph attempted to cover up by shifting the blame onto Anna Wilson who was the one who publised it. The court overruled his claim. Ralph and Vyn divorced and Ralph married Melissa.
