Rex was born in the labs and has known no other life. His parents, Lauren and Theodore championed their charter for Rainbow Valley, and their sudden death the night before their departure came as a shock to everyone. Rex is determined to make sure that their spirit lives on in them, their kids. He was also all too aware that life outside is going to be very different, and he did not know what to expect. Unfortunately, the death of his parents has hit him hard, and for a long time he was raising his younger siblings whilst in the red (with little help from Queenie other than financial, and her constant attempts to set him up with girls).
Of his own accord, however, he met Amy Perry, whom he later married. Soon it was time for him to go to university, and he left brother Ralph in charge of Brendan and Sarah, knowing that he had done his best.
