When Gambit was abducted, the first thing that he did was give them a fake name. Clearly the scientists didn't actually care what his name was because "Gambit" stuck. It wasn't long before he met Rogue, a woman who had done the exact same thing from the exact same fandom. This was not the only thing the two had in common and the pair soon came together as husband and wife, and had four children before their rescue from the labs.
Gambit is of the belief that the scientists recognised where he took his name from thinks that was the inspiration for his red and black DNA alterations.
Gambit was the first resident to fulfill his Life Choice.
