"Failed. How could it fail?" The All Seeing ranted to the rest of the League. "Sam, Nate, what the hell happened out there?"
Sam looked at Nate and shrugged. "No idea. Nate?"
"Our theory is that she had her own defence mechanism in her head," Nate put in. "Bethany was... well, hurt doesn't even begin to cover it."
The All Seeing looked at the seat that Bethany usually occupied, the absence just reinforcing his hatred of Avery Hanson. "But none of you were made?"
"No, we got the hell outta there as soon as it happened," Sam told him. "We didn't know if she even knew it happened, but also, Bethany needed urgent attention."
"Well," The All Seeing cleared his throat. "We just try something else next time."
