Avery sat in the middle of her bed, her guitar resting comfortably in her lap. She scribbled down a few more words and chords, then played through what she had.
"And I'm dying inside and I don't know how to hide / believe me I've tried / maybe if you knew my pain / maybe you'd feel the same / maybe you'd cry my name / every time I walked away..."
She looked up at the sudden knock on her door, and she pushed her guitar to the side.
"Yeah?"
Jessica opened the door and poked her head through the doorway. "Can I come in?"
"Sure."
The older sister walked into the room and took a seat on the end of the bed, looking at the guitar that lay between them.
"I know this is a huge ask, and you can totally say no, because I know you don't like people hearing you... or you didn't..."
"You're rambling," Avery smiled.
"Sorry. Thanks. Um..." Jessica paused for a second. "It's just that the boys are going to be on tour and... I think they need a night off. Could you... well, would you sing at the reception?"
Avery blinked. She wasn't expecting that. "Uh..."
"It's ok if you don't want to, it's just that I've been hearing you a lot lately and..."
"No, no, I... I'd like to," Avery smiled a little.
"You would? Oh awesome!"
Jessica half pounced on her sister for a hug and Avery laughed and let herself go limp so they both fell back on the bed.
