Mansion

Guffrey

"Are you sure?"

Marshall Guffrey turned to the younger man who had approached him with a scornful look.

"Does it really sound like something I would be unsure about?"

"It's just..." the man stuttered a little, "usually when people ask for something like that, it's because they're building one of those big fancy fish tanks that they keep sharks in or somethin'."

Guffrey couldn't help but smile a little.

"Perhaps I'm building it for my own personal kind of shark."

The man hesitated at that, before a knowing look crossed his face.

"Right. Well the contractor to measure up the floor space to fit the glass should be here this afternoon. Also the air conditioning. We'll need to fit boards over the flooring until we can get the glass fully installed because a lot of work still needs to be done..."

Guffrey phased out of listening to his planner as he looked up above at what was to be his future living room.

This house had been years in the planning. He'd always had a large enough land mass to constitute having his own private mansion, but he'd just never really... gotten around to building one. When he'd finally settled on building a couple of years earlier, he'd made sure that it was still close enough to his training centre that he could go for a leisurely stroll in the afternoons just to see how things were going with his children.

He was pulled from his thoughts as someone else approached him with a clipboard.

"Which light fittings had we decided on, Sir?" the man asked.

Guffrey took the clipboard and looked through.

"The Italian ones, I believe," he decided, pointing them out, "thankyou Carl."
