New Years Chance Meeting

Written by Nessa

Mackenzie & Jennifer

After having spent most of the month in Tulsa, with Avery's disappearance and her surprise party, then Christmas, Mack had been eager to get back to LA to start the next chapter of his life. New York had been fine, he'd never taken to it the way that Avery had, sure, the drama program at NYU had been fine and all, but the art scene was so much bigger than the drama scene, and so he'd made the decision to move to LA, where the drama scene, the movie scene... well, LA was where it was at.

So after wishing his family farewell on Boxing Day (and not a moment too soon, he was itching to get back to his friends and party it up), he head back to California, where he'd spent his days partying with his boys in their share house. Now, they had a big New Years Eve party planned, and his friend Jake had invited a whole bunch of girls he knew from UCLA. Which suited Mack just fine. He just wanted a New Years hook up with a hot girl.

The party was in full swing when he saw her, he was past tipsy and well on his way to completely shitfaced, and there she was.

Standing in the middle of a crowd, almost angelic in her appearance. Long blonde hair, tanned skin, it was like she was glowing. Gathering up all his swagger and confidence, Mack made his way over and tilted his drink in her direction.

"Mack Hanson. You're gorgeous, by the way," he winked at her.

Jennifer laughed. "Does that usually work?"

"Up until now, yes," Mack grinned.

"You're lucky that I think you're cute," she returned.

"Oh, then I am lucky..."

Jennifer and Mackenzie spent the night flirting and joking together, and come the end of the night, there was a small chaste kiss, not at all what he was expecting, but then there was the exchange of numbers and his promise to call her in the morning.

He went to bed with a grin on his face, for the first time, having serious feelings for someone, even though he'd only spent a few hours with her. Diana had once told him that when you knew, you knew... and at that moment... he knew.
