"So, what did you crazy kids get up to today, or don't I want to know?" Zac chuckled, earning a sharp poke in the side from his wife. "What?"
Kate shook her head, but she was smiling. "Sometimes it's better not to ask."
Avery let out a laugh, leaning back in her chair, feeling Matt's hand on the back of her neck. "We actually went and looked at a few apartments."
"So you think you want to move to Tulsa permanently?" Kate asked.
"Well," Matt said, giving Avery a sidelong glance. "Apart from the Station, this is the only other place to me that's felt like home."
"It does that," Avery nodded. "I mean, even when I was in New York, I think my heart was always here."
"So..." Kate grinned. "Will you be living together?"
"I can't speak for this one," Matt indicated Avery. "But I hope that's the eventual plan."
Avery blushed a little. "Well, of course. But for now, I'm happy to move back to Mom and Dad's."
"Speaking of, do they know you guys are back together?" Zac asked.
"Not yet," Avery replied, and Matt looked a little nervous.
"It won't be a problem, dude," Zac chuckled. "Mom always loved you."
"And it's not like we had a huge terrible break up," Avery reasoned. "We were just in different places. Literally. And figuratively, I guess."
Matt leaned over and kissed the side of her head. "Well, I hope your parents don't disapprove. That would really put a dampener on me moving here."
"I, for one, am glad you're back on the scene," Zac nodded, earning another poke from Kate. "You're the only boyfriend of Avie's that I've actually liked."
"He's the only one you've actually spent any time with," Avery laughed. "And besides, the early ones don't count for much. I was on the Station, and you never came to visit."
"That's because I was too busy courting Kate," Zac winked.
"Oh, is that what that was?" Kate joked.
"You loved it," he retorted. "I was very romantic."
And the four continued on with their banter for the rest of the night.
