Come In With The Rain

Written by Nessa

Avery & Matt

Avery was just about to go up to her bedroom when she sensed a very familiar person walking down the street that Zac and Kate lived on. She crinkled her eyebrows in confusion, hearing his thoughts and she ran down the stairs, throwing open the front door.

She peered out, noting the rain pouring down in grey sheets, the dark sky outside belying the actual time of the day. She pulled the hood of her sweater over her hair, and left the house, careful not to slip on the drenched tiled stairs, reaching the driveway and running across, meeting him in the centre of the road.

Matt stopped when she approached, drenched from head to toe, and before she could say anything, he grabbed her gently and pulled her into him. He tilted her chin up and kissed her, the hood falling off her head, her hair soaked through within a minute. She smiled into the kiss, wrapping her arms around his neck, sighing in contentment when they broke apart.

They looked at each other for a long moment, both soaked to the core, but somehow not noticing it. He kept his arms around her waist and she leaned into him, feeling like she had finally come home.

"I love you," she said quietly.

"I love you too."

They laced their hands together as they walked back to the Zac's house, slowly, not even noticing the torrential downpour, and she laughed as they stood on the porch, under the cover, both dripping onto the front steps.

"Zac's going to kill us," he chuckled.

"No one's home," she grinned.

They entered the house and Avery led him upstairs to her bedroom, Matt nudging the door closed behind them, their clothes hitting the floor with a wet slap.

And in the dreariness of the afternoon, Avery felt like she was finally complete.
