Natalie grunted as she reached over and turned off the alarm. When she squinted to check the time, she found herself surprised that they hadn’t been woken by… other means.
Finding herself grateful for the moment of quiet, she slid her hand over Taylor’s waist, vaguely surprised he wasn’t already up and out of the door.
She frowned.
”Tay?”
She quickly fumbled with the bedside lamp and turned it on, turning back to her husband to check. He was breathing okay, but was otherwise unresponsive.
”Taylor?!” she tried to be quiet so as not to alert the kids.
She knelt up on the bed, feeling his forehead. She couldn’t help but recoil slightly at the sense of turbulence she felt, but she set her power to work anyway.
”Tay, come on…” she whispered, trying with her power to bring him back.
Nothing was working. It had to be telepathic. He wasn’t in the calm state that would normally be associated with a coma. This was different. In fact he even appeared to be... scared?
Natalie grabbed her phone from the bedside table and frantically dialled. She got voicemail.
”Avery?! It’s Nat. Something’s happened to Taylor, and we need you. Please, either call me back or come over as soon as you get this.”
She hung up, and dialled Isaac instead.

Isaac was already up and tending to Monroe when he heard his phone ringing in the bedroom. He set his son on the ground before rushing off to find it. Thankfully, he reached it before it cut out.
”Yello?”
”Ike! Ike, it’s Nat-“
”Natalie?”
”It’s Tay. Something’s wrong with him.”
Isaac’s eyes slid closed, wondering what on Earth it could be this time.
”He’s not waking up.”
His eyes opened.
”What do you mean? Is he asleep?”
”Yes. No! I don’t know! Everything was fine when we went to bed last night, and this morning he’s just not waking up. I’ve tried everything I can think of. All I know is that he’s definitely not in a coma. Ike, I think it might be telepathic…”
”Then we need to get Avie over there,” he said decidedly.
”I already called, she’s not answering. I left a message, but-“
”I’m on my way. I’ll stop in at Mom and Dad’s on the way and pick her up,” Isaac was grabbing a jacket as he spoke.
”Thank you. Thanks Ike,” Natalie breathed a little easier.
”And Nat? Don’t panic. We’ll figure this out, okay?”
”Okay.”
”See you soon.”
Isaac hung up and went to find Nikki to tell her where he was going.
