The Meeting

Written by Nessa and AiMsTeR

Avery

Avery and Matt came into the apartment, laughing so hard they could hardly stand up. "You're such a loser."

"Well you're dating me," Matt shot back, chuckling. "So, what does that make you?"

"You may have a point there," she grinned.

They made their way into the kitchen to get their breakfast sorted after their morning run together.

"Muesli?" Matt asked, looking around at the cupboards.

"That one," she pointed to the long cupboard in the corner. "Yoghurt in the fridge."

She bent down to get the bowls and let out a snort when he pinched her on the butt.

"Totally wasn't me," he grinned.

"Loser," she said again. "Total loser."

Christian

Christian emerged from his room, already dressed for one of his two jobs. He eyed the two in the kitchen, before catching Avery's line of sight.

"Morning," he nodded.

Avery

"Morning," Avery greeted, taking the bowl of her breakfast from Matt. "Chris, this is Matt, Matt... Chris."

Matt looked up from where he was spooning yoghurt into his bowl and saluted. "Hey man. How's it going?"

Christian

"Going fine," Christian's eyebrows rose.

"You planning on staying a while?"

Avery

"Just the weekend," Matt replied. "Gotta get back to work."

"Matt works on the Station," Avery said, breaking the 'can I tell him what I do' awkwardness. "He's a healer."

"Ah," Matt nodded. "Yeah, so I'll be heading off on Monday morning."

"You off to work?" Avery asked, nodding at the fact he was already up on a Saturday morning.

Christian

"Yeah," Chris nodded, "some spoiled rich kid needs a private escort to some kind of lunch thing. New kids always get the jobs no one else wants."

Avery

Matt gave a wry smile. "Good luck with that."

"Try not to punch the kid," Avery joked.

Matt, meanwhile, was casually observing the way that Christian was looking at his girlfriend.

Christian

Christian chuckled to himself.

"It's not as if I really need the job, but I'll try and keep myself under control if it makes you feel better," he joked.

He offhandedly realised he really hadn't punched anyone in a very long time.

Avery

"Good man," Avery nodded, smiling.

"Always best," Matt grinned. "As satisfying as it may be."

Christian

"You have no idea," Chris made to grab his backpack.

"If you'd like I could spend the night at Randy's and give you guys some alone time?" he offered Avery, Randy being completely fictional but if she picked up on that she'd also get his meaning.

Avery

Avery smirked slightly, picking up on what he was trying to say.

"It's up to you, we're going to be out tonight anyway," she told him. "We won't be back till lateish, so you will have the place to yourself."

Christian

"And I have a club job later tonight, so that solves that!" Christian clasped his hands.

"You kids have a fun day," he smiled, heading for the door.

Avery

"See ya," Matt called, then turned to Avery. "Come on, I'm starving."

"You're a loser, that's what you are," Avery grinned, picking up her bowl.
