Dad!

Written by Nessa and AiMsTeR

Priestly

Priestly was grinning from ear to ear as he dialled Sam's number. He lay back on the hotel bed, and even though he was exhausted from staying up half the night with Vanessa sharing stories and then a full day of filming, he really wanted to talk to his father about everything that had transpired.

He waited patiently for Sam to answer.

Sam

Sam jumped as his phone rang, and rolled over in bed. Seeing that Faith and Dean were both still out, he rubbed his eyes and quickly answered before the call cut out.

"This is Sam," he breathed.

Priestly

"Hi Dad," Priestly said, still sounding cheerful.

"Sorry, did I wake you?"

Sam

"No, not at all," Sam lied, blinking furiously as he sat up.

"Are you ok? Is everything alright?"

Priestly

"Yeah, everything's good, really good."

Priestly grinned.

"That's kinda why I'm calling..."

Sam

"Yeah?" Sam rubbed the sleep from his eyes.

"What's up?"

Priestly

"Well..." Priestly blushed, even though Sam couldn't see him.

"Last night... I got my... first kiss."

Sam

Sam frowned, then his eyebrows rose.

"Oh."

He struggled to think of when his had been in case Priestly was going to ask for reference.

Priestly

"Oh and... Ness is a mutant."

Priestly grinned slightly.

Sam

Sam rubbed his head.

"A mutant?" he clarified.

Priestly

"Yeah," Priestly confirmed.

"She kinda lost control last night and we got to talking. Don't worry, I told her I'm a mutant too. I kinda skirted around the really terrible bits of our family history."

Sam

"So you're just... telling people you're a mutant?" Sam squinted slightly, confused.

Priestly

"Well, Nessa's the only one who knows I have anything special about me," Priestly said, shrugging.

"I didn't really know how to get into the whole... demon blooded hybrid thing."

Sam

"No, no that's ok. Just... don't make a habit of it," Sam gulped slightly.

"But are you sure you can trust this girl?"

Faith

"Hey, I tried," Faith said, leaning in to kiss Sam's neck.

"Maybe you should try. I'd make it worth your while."

Priestly

"Yeah, I am."

Priestly sighed.

"Dad, you have to meet her. She's just... she's really amazing."

Sam

"And you're sure it's not just your hormones talking?" Sam rubbed the back of his neck.

"You're at that age, you know."

Priestly

"I'm sure, Dad," Priestly rolled his eyes.

"I know I'm young, but... she really is great. I think you and MOm would really like her."

Sam

"And we thought she was a nice girl when we saw her at the auditions, I promise," Sam assured.

"But one of the first things you learn in the family business is to not take people at face value."

Priestly

"I know, Dad."

Priestly sighed.

"But... you'll understand when you meet her. She's not... she's just not like anything in this world. She's innocent. She's pure."

Sam

"A pure mutant?" Sam scoffed, before hurriedly clearing his throat to cover the noise.

"Just be careful, Prie- I mean, Zac."

Priestly

"Dad," Priestly shook his head.

"Just give me the benefit of the doubt. She's not like me. Her hands are clean."

Sam

"Did you check under her nails?" Sam jumped in.

Priestly

"OH God," Priestly groaned.

"You're cracking out the Dad jokes?"

Sam

"No, I'm not, I promise," Sam insisted sharply.

"I'm just saying... you never know. Don't just decide one hundred percent on this girl this soon. You can't trust anyone these days. And I mean anyone."

Priestly

"I know, I know," Priestly snapped.

"Can't trust you, or Dean or Mom. I get it. Alone. Can only trust myself."

Sam

"Exactly."

Sam hesitated, then smiled.

"Did you... enjoy it?"

Priestly

Priestly grinned.

"I did, yeah."

Sam

"Should I tell your Mom?" Sam teased a little.

Priestly

"No..." Priestly hesitated.

"And don't tell Dean yet either, please."

Sam

"Don't worry. Your secret's safe with me. And we're doing pretty well with keeping your other secret from Dean, if I do say so myself," Sam pointed out.

Priestly

"Oh good," Priestly breathed out.

"Thanks Dad. We're wrapping in the next few days, so I should be back in LA soon."

Sam

"Any idea when it's going to come out? The movie, I mean. Or is it a tv movie?" Sam asked.

Priestly

"Straight to the Disney Channel, so there is no chance that Dean will see it," Priestly confirmed.

Sam

"Great," Sam nodded, "I was a little worried..."

Priestly

"So I was sorta thinking that when I get back, I might come on the road for a few weeks?" Priestly asked shyly.

"Hang out with Mom a bit."

Sam

"Ah, sure! I'll let her know," Sam nodded.

"I'm sure Dean would look forward to seeing you again too."

Priestly

"Gee, Dad," Priestly said dryly, though he was smiling.

"Nice to know you're not looking forward to seeing me."

Sam

"Why would I want to see you?" Sam teased.

"No, I am. We all are. Let us know when you wrap it up, because I've no idea where we'll be."

Priestly

"Ok... I'll find out when we're finished for good. I might hang out in LA for a few days before I come join you guys."

Priestly blushed slightly.

Sam

"Understandable," Sam nodded.

"And I take it you have plans to see this girl afterward?"

Priestly

"Yeah," Priestly said.

"We've talked about hanging out a bit."

Sam

"So you won't be on the road for long then," Sam clarified.

Priestly

"Probably not," Priestly admitted.

"And Angel's offered a trip to Europe too. He says that Airlia and Tru got a lot out of it, and so did Mom... so maybe... I'm thinking about it."

Sam

"What for?" Sam shook his head.

Priestly

Priestly shrugged. "Studying fighting, like Mom. Or just cultural change. It sounds really cool, so I'm thinking of taking him up on the offer."

Sam

"O...k..." Sam frowned a little, but tried to sound positive.

"It sounds like it'd be a worthwhile experience."

Priestly

"I thought maybe Mom might want to come too," Priestly said, shrugging.

"I think I could learn heaps from her."

Sam

"And I'm sure she'd want to join you," Sam cleared his throat awkwardly.

"I could mention it to her if you want."

Priestly

"It's ok," Priestly shrugged.

"I'll ask when I talk to her next."

Sam

"Oh. Ok," Sam nodded.

There was an awkward silence.

Priestly

"Anyway, I should go," Priestly said, nodding.

He cleared his throat.

Sam

"Yeah, sure," Sam nodded to himself.

"I'll, ah, tell your Mom you called. And... Stay in touch."

Priestly

"Will do."

Priestly nodded.

"Ok, bye."

Sam

"Bye... son."

Sam waited until Priestly had hung up before throwing the phone down onto the bed and biting his fingernails.
