Priestly looked up, hearing teh footsteps approaching him where he sat.
"Hey," Vanessa greeted. "I thought that was you."
"Hey," he nodded, giving her a shy smile.
"Mind if I sit?" she asked, indicating the space next to him.
"No no, go for it," Priestly smiled again, moving over a little bit to give her a little more room on the picnic table.
"You nervous?" Vanessa turned to look at him, resting her chin on her hand.
"Nervous?"
"For the call back," she said, smiling.
"Oh." He blushed faintly. "Yeah, a little. Are you?"
She nodded, her eyes crinkling back into a smile, and Priestly couldn't help noticing how pretty she was.
"More excited, but still pretty nervous," Vanessa told him. She paused for a moment. "Do you live in LA?"
"Yeah, sorta," Priestly said, mentally cursing himself for not being able to think quick enough.
"Sorta?" she teased. "You forget where you live?"
Priestly laughed. "No, well, my Mom and Dad travel a lot, but I have family in the city."
"Ah," Vanessa nodded. "Cool. So you're all over the place?"
"Mostly," he smiled. "But I don't mind. What about you? Do you live in the city?"
"Yeah, I'm a Cali girl," she grinned.
They sat and talked for a few more minutes, before Vanessa haad to run to meet her sister for lunch. Priestly watched her walk away with a goofy smile on his face.
