Meredith lingered outside Izzie's door, waiting for Cristina to finish checking on her. "How's she doing? Any better?"
"No," Cristina shook her head.
"Damn," the blonde sighed. "Well I'm going city hall to go do the thing."
"Seriously?" Cristina's eyebrows rose. "It doesn't seem like the day for it." "Look at Alex," she shrugged. "He's working so hard all day and she doesn't know. And if she stays like this, she may never know how much he loves her. And that girl Amanda, she's in there loving a stranger. She thinks that's her prince charming. I mean he's probably going to die today. Chances are. So yeah, I'm going to go get married because I think it's important to take the time to tell the people you love how much you love them while they can hear you."
There was a moment of silence between them.
"I love you, Cristina Yang," Meredith nodded seriously.
"You have changed," Cristina replied.
"Maybe I have." Meredith noticed Cristina staring. "What?"
"I'm going to hug you."
The two best friends embraced tightly.
