Hugh and Nick

Nick looked up as the door opened and frowned when he recognised his visitor.

"What are you doing here?"

"Visiting you, what does it look like?" Hugh replied.

Nick snorted.

"I'm surprised you have the nerve to show your face, traitor."

The accustation took Hugh by surprise. He hadn't... we he supposed he was. The thought made him feel sick, and yet, Nick had never been there, hadn't even seen him until now How could he possibly know anything? Well, he supposed that Nick had been stuck in prison for the last couple of years, and had plenty of time to think things over. And over and over.

"That's a fine greeting," Hugh replied, far more calmly than he felt. "Do you have any idea how much wrangling it took to get to see you, my Prince, after I found out you had been caught?"

Nick frowned and eyed Hugh suspiciously.

"You still acknowledge me as your Prince?"

"Of course, but don't let it get around," Hugh replied blithely. "It might make them think they can't trust me."

"You've been hanging around with the Dathrians too long Huulion," Nick sneered. "You're beginning to sound like them."

Hugh paused, then forced himself to resume the more formal stance he had been taught was the proper manner to address Royalty.

"All a part of the deception, my Prince," Hugh responded with carefully formed phrases. "A deception that was neccsary for I to produce in order to gain further training in Ga'Revali."

"Yes," Nick sneered. "My father actually believed that you were staying here for that reason. I don't buy it."

Hugh was silent for a moment, then went on in a quieter tone.

"My classes with the Telepathic Temptress have been very... informative," he told him. "Security is tight, but I believe that between the two of us, we can leave this place."

Nick paused and frowned at Hugh. Hugh agve a slight smile.

"I believe I'm reaching a point with Tanya where I am unable to progress much further without putting the SPM at risk. Good as I am, she is not a Ga'Revali Master for no reason."

"Ahh I get it. You can't suck anything more out of them, so now you decide it's time to go home. Tell me Huulion, would you have left me in here for another year before you saw fit to help me escape?"

"You are my Prince," Hugh replied solomnly. "Releasing you from this prison was of course, my priority, but I needed to maintain my cover else they would not have let me get this close - and likely curtailed my training - the very thing which is going to get us out of here."

Hugh grinned broadly then, and opened the door. Nick stared.

"Now?"

"Of course," Hugh replied, with a slight bow and a gesture for him to proceed.

"No, no," Nick shook his head. "You're leading this escape. You go first."

Hugh nodded and proceeded first out the door with Nick close behind. He led him through the corridor, all the while feeling sick to the stomach. But he had to do this. Not for Tanya or the YIRAAS, not because of Nick, but because of his people. They needed a chance to learn the truth - the whole truth - not just the pieces their leaders deigned to tell them. He hated, and already regretted the decision to stop this training, but it couldn't be helped. There was increasing pressure from his contact on the station to free Nick. Wayne would have nothing of the idea, not until Tanya suggested that Hugh leave with him. Hugh figured they'd probably had a huge argument about that too (Hugh wondered just how much of YIRAAS Security Wayne ran what with the way Tanya seemed to nag him all the time). Hugh figured it was only because his training would be curtailed that he was being allowed to leave in this manner. Then too, Hugh hoped that he may have convinced Wayne of his sincereity in wanting to reform the SPM.

The corridor to the elevators was clear of personnel. Hugh led Nick to believe that this was some prior telepathic commands at work here, although in truth Wayne had organised that their escape be mostly unpeded - there needed to be some tension, or Nick would never buy it. They met this at the teleportation centre, and then again when they arrived in Roswell. With so many people around at both ends both of them had to exercise their powers to keep from being caught.

Of course, as soon as they could away from the teleportation centre in Roswell, Nick started complaining about how they expected to get back, when his eyes fell on a familiar face. A SPM teleporter who's name he couldn't remember.

"How?" Nick demanded.

"Our agent on the station? He organised this end for us," Hugh replied smugly.

Nick let out a breath.

"Lets get home then."
