Finding Out

Written by Nessa

Tru

Tru squinted, hearing voices down the corridor. She slowly got up and left the warm office, and headed down towards the morgue, where she could hear two men talking. No, arguing.

"You shouldn't've come," Jack told the other man angrily, while Tru peered through the small glass window in the door.

"Well, I wouldn't be here, if you didn't keep screwing up," George replied, taking a step closer.

Tru tilted her head, recognising the man's face but not remembering where she had seen it before.

"George, if she finds out we're working together, that's it!" Jack told him.

"She won't find out," George assured him. "There's no possible connection between us at all. It's a clean trail, trust me."

"I don't like this," the younger man went on. "Davis fired me, I'm not even meant to be here."

"We have reason to believe the next man in will ask for help," George told him. "You just have to distract Tru."

Tru's eyebrows knitted together in confusion as she eavesdropped.

"She's going to work it out," Jack warned. "And she'll do something drastic. Faith will get involved. It'll be over."

"My daughter won't be a problem," George replied. "Easily handled."

"Not as easy as you think," Jack countered. "You know she's a Slayer right? She handed some of those abilities down to Tru."

George smirked. "They won't be a problem."

Tru gasped, a little too loudly, then ducked as the two men turned towards the door. Staying low, she quickly made her way back to the office, before locking the door behind her, turning the light off and shifting into something else.

She breathed heavily in the dark, petrified.
