"Hey blondie," Dan called out to Lo as she passed him.
"Hey blondie yourself," Lo grinned, pausing for a second so they could walk together.
"You just got back from downside?" Dan asked, glancing at her.
"Sure did," Lo nodded. "Can you tell by my rosy glow?"
Dan chuckled. "That, and the sand in your hair. Laguna, I'm guessing."
Lo laughed and shook her hair out. "Yep. Visiting my friends for a day of fun in the sun. What did you get up to this weekend?"
"Not much," Dan shrugged. "The usual. Hung out with the boys, spent time with the family, dated some hot chicks. Or... wished I did."
Lo tutted sympathetically. "You still heartbroken from your last foray into love?"
"Not really," Dan replied. "But at least I'm better off than Josh, who denies it, but still moons over Ave. Or Matt, who... sorta repulses girls."
Lo laughed. "Yeah, he has that affect. He's a good looking guy too, it's just the things that come out of his mouth."
"Oh boy, do I know," Dan nodded, rolling his eyes. "It's not just to annoy you girls, either. He's just... like that. Permanently has a foot in his mouth."
"Ah, but what does it say about us that we keep hanging out with him?" she asked. "Think we could be the fools here."
"Maybe," he agreed. "Hey, what are you doing this afternoon? I have a free house, which is a rarity in itself, and too much junk food for one person to consume. Can I tempt you?"
Lo thought about it for a second. "You sure can. I'll just drop my stuff off at home and have a quick shower to rid myself of the sand, and then I'll be over in a half hour?"
"Sounds good."
They stood in the hallway that separated Lo's place from Dan's.
"So, I'll see you in a bit?" Lo nodded.
"Yep." Dan surprised them oth by kissing her cheek. "Um... well, see you."
"... see you," Lo replied, turning and leaving.
