"Her name was Looooooo-la, she was a showgirl!" Matt sang, as neared the table Lo was sitting at.
The blonde looked up with a faintly amused look on her face. "Do you see any yellow feathers in my hair?"
"No, but your dress is cut down to there," he chuckled. "In any case, I have to talk to you."
"Oooh," Lo grinned. "This sounds serious."
"Positively!" Matt exclaimed, drawing stares, even in the loud food court.
"Shut up, nerd," she said. "What's up? Make it snappy, I'm bored of you already."
She grinned, to show she was joking.
"Weeeeeeeeellllllllllll," Matt drew the world out deliberately. "It appears that young Avery is going to be performing in the talent night."
"What?! That sneaky little..." Lo trailed off. "Wait, how did you know?"
"I saw her coming out of the auditions the other week and then asked her about it. She doesn't want us to come along," Matt told her. "I think she's nervous about singing in front of... people she knows."
Lo nodded. "She sorta flipped out when I accidentally overheard her the other week."
Matt was quiet for a second. "Well, we're going, right?"
"Of course," Lo replied.
"So, what if I had accidentally mentioned it to you... and you happened to mention it to Dan, and Dan happened to mention it to Trent, and Trent happened to tell Libby?" Matt asked, grinning. "We'll have to make sure Avie doesn't find out."
"Ironic," Lo noted. "But yeah, we should go. To support her. And because I'm nosy."
"That too," Matt laughed. "Ok, so I have done my bit and mentioned it to you. Go forth, my daughter!"
"Idiot."
