Avery lay on the blanket she'd spread out on the grass in the gardens. She had a few textbooks open in front of her, as well as a notepad. Her guitar lay next to her, and she chewed absently on the end of her pen.
"Hey," Matt said, stepping off the path as he saw her. "Missed you at lunch."
"Extra Ga'Revali," Avery replied, looking up at him. "Hey."
Matt nodded. "Mind if I join you? Or is this... Avie time?"
"Nah, go for it," Avery said, sitting up and making room for him. "Was just doing some homework and fixing up my college stuff."
Matt sat down cross legged on the edge of the blanket, and made a face at the books. "Ugh, school."
She grinned. "Well, you know, I don't actually mind it."
"That's because you're a nerd," he told her. "You're the kind of girl who gets excited about major assignments."
"Oh, definitely, you found me out. I loved the SATs," she joked.
"I bet!" Matt exclaimed. "Nerd!"
"Shameful secret," Avery grinned. "So, what are you doing here this afternoon?"
Matt shrugged. "Thought I could come pick up some chicks."
Avery chuckled. "Any luck?"
"Nah," Matt waved his hand. "No one appreciates my hilarity and good looks."
"I see," she nodded. "How was work?"
"I'm on my break," Matt said. "I'm working the late shift tonight. But so far, it's been good."
He stretched his legs out in front of him, stretching his arms over his head and yawning.
"Did Josh have fun at his party?" Avery asked, glancing across at him.
"He would've had more fun with a birthday bang, I think," Matt grinned.
"Matthew," Avery shook her head, sighing, but she was smiling.
"Hey! He's an 18 year old, hot blooded Dath! He are verile, fertile, handsome - "
"Can I interrupt this Ode to Josh and get back to the original question?" Avery quirked an eyebrow.
Matt laughed. "Yeah, I think he did. I'm surprised we all managed to keep it a secret."
"You mean, you're surprised you and Lo managed to keep it a secret?" Avery teased.
"Guilty," Matt nodded. "We are the worst at keeping secrets. Well, when they're fun exciting ones, anyway. And let's face it, I love fun and exciting se...crets."
"You know, one day someone is going to charge you with sexual harrassment."
Matt shook his head. "It'll never happen, I am way too fine."
"Keep telling yourself, bud."
"I will, someone has to inflate my head... which one, I'll leave it up to - " he was cut off by Avery telepathically disconnecting his voice.
"Ha!" she grinned.
"I can still think it, Aves. And I can get worse... wanna see?" And with that, Matt proceeded to think of the dirtiest things he could, before Avery recoiled visibly and "un-muted" him.
"HAHAHAHAHAHA!" Matt fell back on the ground, laughing hysterically.
Avery shook her head and smacked his leg. "Idiot."
"Charming, though," Matt said, giving her a winning smile.
"No, just an idiot."
