Avery thanked Bill as he disappeared from sight, then she turned towards the door. Adjusting the guitar case on her shoulder, she knocked lightly on the door and waited for someone to answer.
Isaac
Isaac glanced up from playing with Everett at the sound of the knock. He glanced back down, but Everett was quite content playing with his toys. He got up and a smile appeared on his face as he opened the door and found his sister standing on the other side.
"Hey Avie," he said, holding the door open so she could come in.
Avery
"Greetings, big brother of mine," Avery said, stepping through the door.
"I'm going to rush through greetings with you so I can see baby Everett."
She grinned cheekily at him.
Isaac
Isaac chuckled and gestured towards Everett, playing on the floor.
"Go right ahead," he said.
Avery
"Hey baby boy," Avery greeted, setting her guitar case down carefully before sitting in front of Everett.
She reached out and ticked his belly gently.
"And how's my handsome little nephew today?"
Isaac
Isaac closed the door while Everett wriggled and giggled.
"Did we tell you Everett finally took his first steps?" he asked.
Avery
"Nope, but I heard it," Avery said, pointing to her head. "Nikki was quite excited when she was thinking about it."
She lifted Everett into her lap and kissed the top of his head.
"What's new in the world of Ike?"
Isaac
"Don't blame her, it's a pain in the butt trying to teach a teleporter to walk," Isaac replied good-naturedly as he sat down beside her. "I don't know, it's the same old really, but a newborn and an eighteen-month-old involved."
Everett wriggled and squirmed in Avery's arms, and reached out for his toys. "Ba!"
Avery
"Sounds exciting," Avery grinned.
She set Everett back on the floor so he could go to his toys again.
"There was an ulterior motive for me visiting... not that I don't love seeing you, of course."
Isaac
Isaac grinned.
"I love seeing you too, but it's not every day you show up on my doorstep with a guitar," he said, gesturing towards her guitar case. "Or is there a guitar in there? Dun dun dunnnn."
Avery
"It's a rifle," Avery joked. "I'm a hitman."
She reached for the case and unlatched it.
"Bang?"
Isaac
"Ahh," Isaac said, stoking his chin. "It explains so much. Plus a guitar case will attract much less attention than a violin case."
Everett carefully stacked a block on top of another.
Avery
Avery grinned before pulling the acoustic guitar from the case.
"But in all seriousness," she said, looking over at Isaac somewhat shyly. "I've sort of... been teaching myself, but I was wondering if I could get some lessons from you."
Isaac
Isaac blinked in surprise.
"Oh, well, sure," he said when he found his voice. "I didn't realise you were interested in playing."
Avery
Avery nodded slowly.
"I mean, I was always sorta interested in the music thing, Tay used to teach me harmonica, but it's only been recently that I've gotten into playing guitar..."
Isaac
Isaac nodded.
"Fair enough," he said. "I guess having three older brothers already in a band may have been a little off-putting."
Avery
Avery shrugged.
"It was never really... I mean... you guys had your thing, and I had mine. Being a super awesome telepath."
Isaac
Isaac chuckled.
"And you were very good at being a super awesome telepath," he said. "Two thumbs up."
Avery
Avery grinned.
"Thank you, thank you," she said, bowing her head slightly. "But it turns out that I have these freakishly long fingers for a reason and can reach lots of strings on the guitar."
Isaac
"Freakishy long fingers do have their uses," Isaac replied with a grin. "When did you want to start?"
"Ba," said Everett, and he pushed down his pile of blocks.
Avery
"Now, if you have time," Avery said, indicating het guitar.
She reached over to help Everett with his blocks.
Isaac
Isaac gave a shrug.
"Sure," he said, and stood up. "I'll just get one of my guitars."
Avery
"Sweet as, bro," Avery called after him.
She turned her attention back to Everett while she waited.
"Come on, bub, let's build something."
