Dean walked up the motel path holding wet clothes, hoping that Faith and Sam hadn't just ditched the motel to go looking for him seeing as he had no way to contact them unless he ripped off a payphone.
He'd managed to steal some dry clothes from a trailer park near the beach where Castiel had pulled him from the water and had just started walking back after trying to dry his own, not really having paid attention to exactly how far away the motel had been. By now he'd been walking for hours on end, and he hadn't even eaten anything the day before.
He looked sad for a moment as he held his growling stomach, then stepped up to the row of rooms where theirs had been. Finally he made it to room 6 and knocked.
Faith
Faith paused on her way back from the bathroom as she heard the knocking on the door. SHe padded over, yawning and blinking back sleep, before unlocking and opening it.
"Early morning swim?" she asked, steping back to let him in. She headed for the bathroom to grab him a towel.
Sam & Dean
Sam looked up, then jumped to his feet.
"What the hell happened?" he frowned, looking his brother up and down.
"What, don't like the cotton trousers?" Dean's eyebrows rose as he walked in and dumped his stuff.
"Let's see... I got thrown telekinetically into a fridge, dumped into the ocean, and once again was saved by an angel. Seems to be a common occurence these days."
Faith
Faith handed Dean a couple of towels, and sat down on the bed.
"Ok, so are we assuming it was the same mutant as before?"
Dean
"Maybe," Dean put the towels out and put his clothes on them.
"Maybe not. It was that kid from the diner."
Faith
Faith paused for a moment, struggling to remember something. She rubbed her temples absently, and after a few minutes silence, she gasped.
"Oh God."
Sam & Dean
"What? What is it?" Sam stepped toward her.
Dean looked up expectantly.
Faith
"He was there," Faith said, squinting while she tried to remember what had happened.
"He couldn't do it though. The other guy did it. But... I can't remember him."
Sam & Dean
"Where? He was where?" Sam shook his head.
"You mean the axe to the gut?" Dean turned his body to face her.
Faith
"Yeah," Faith said, shaking her head.
"He... he looked me in the eye and couldn't do it."
Sam & Dean
Sam stepped over and put a hand on her shoulder.
"Are you sure it was him?"
"I wouldn't be surprised," Dean shrugged, "the guy was dead in the eyes when he threw me. Almost like the only thing he could think about was getting me out of the way."
"Then it could mean he - or they - are still in town," Sam looked at him.
Faith
"Well, I'd say lets go, but the last time I went up against the guy, I ended up with an axe in my side. So... we may actually have to have a plan here."
Faith shrugged.
"The telekinesis kinda puts him at an advantage."
Sam & Dean
"Yeah," Sam agreed awkwardly, "and we don't know what else he might throw at us."
"He could just be a demon," Dean shrugged.
"No we've been over that," Sam shook his head, "if he was a demon, he wouldn't have to go to all this trouble."
"So are we going with mutant?"
"Sounds more likely," Sam nodded, "so now we need to work out what other power we might be up against."
Faith
Faith thought about her own fight with him.
"He was pretty strong," she put in. "Not as strong as me, but not far off. About the same as what Kim was. And Kim was the son of..."
She paused.
"Oh my God."
Sam
"What is it?" Sam asked, taking his hand away.
Faith
"We have to find him now," Faith said, looking around for her clothes.
"It's our... it's our son."
Sam & Dean
Sam froze.
Dean's eyes widened, as he put two and two together.
He looked at Sam.
"Castiel told me that there was some kind of connection between the three of you," he revealed, "but... I didn't expect this. He's got to be what, twenty? How is that even possible?"
"Dean, Tru went to another dimension when she wanted to grow older faster. Maybe he did the same thing. It makes sense, but..." Sam was having trouble processing it, "why would he be trying to kill us?"
Faith
Faith clenched her jaw as she worked it out.
"That guy, the guy that stole him from the hospital. He must've brainwashed him or something," she thought aloud. "Sam, when he looked me in the eye, he couldn't do it. He was just staring and the other guy did it. He tried to stop the other guy too. Told him to heal me."
She rubbed her nose.
"That's why he couldn't do it."
Sam & Dean
"This is insane," Sam shook his head, running his fingers through his hair.
"Either way," Dean insisted, "we gotta find this guy. And whoever's pulling his strings."
"And how do you suppose we do that?" Sam demanded.
Dean shrugged.
"I'll be bait. They want us dead, right? So let's ring the dinner bell."
Faith
"They'd leave town," Faith said, thinking for a second.
"They took off as soon as they thought I was out for the count. So, chances are, they've taken off again."
Sam & Dean
Sam sat on the bed and put his head in his hands.
"So let's take off ourselves," Dean shrugged.
"It wasn't that long between attacks this time, so it probably won't be long before they come at us again. Let's just set up somewhere with easy access."
Faith
Faith nodded at Dean, then looked over at Sam. She put her hand on his shoulder.
"Are you ok?" she asked softly.
Sam & Dean
"No, I'm not," Sam shook his head, resting his chin on his fists.
"Let's skip town," Dean insisted, grabbing some of his own clothes to change into and heading for the bathroom.
Faith
Faith moved behind Sam and slipped her arms around his waist. She rested her head on his shoulder and kissed his neck gently.
"It's ok," she said quietly. "We knew one day he'd pop up again."
Sam
"But not like this," Sam shook his head.
"Not as a killer. Not as someone needing to hide from the world."
Faith
Faith moved slightly and pressed her lips against his forehead.
"I know," she replied. "We'll work it all out. I promise."
Sam
"I hope so," Sam sighed, leaning in to her a little.
"Now that he's... you know, a living breathing person, I don't want to have to..."
He shook his head, biting his lip.
"I don't want to have to destroy him for the greater good."
Faith
Faith ran her hands through his hair, and she kissed him again.
"We might not have to," she told him. "Obviously, it's an option, but there are two types of monsters, Sam. He might be redeemable. Look at me."
Sam & Dean
"God I hope he takes after you," Sam said sincerely.
"Don't we all," Dean muttered as he came out of the bathroom, holding himself back from saying anything derogatory like 'but he has your face'.
"Come on let's go people."
Faith
Faith ignored Dean for the moment, and kissed Sam's cheek again.
"Are you ready to go?"
Sam & Dean
Sam nodded quietly and got up to pack his laptop as Dean threw his clothes together.
"I figure we'll just head west. We'll come across a small town motel eventually," Dean suggested.
Faith
"Ok," Faith replied.
She got up and went to get changed.
