Trust Issues

Written by AiMsTeR and Nessa

Dean

"Did you want to stop and get lunch soon, or are we good to keep going 'til we cross the border?" Dean asked Faith, ignoring Sam in the back seat.

Faith

Faith shrugged.

"Eh, you know me, I can always eat. So whenever."

She turned back to look at Sam.

"You hungry now?"

Sam & Dean

"Whatever," Sam shrugged, looking out the window.

"Ok we'll grab something at a drive through when I see one," Dean assured, "if I see one. So start praying if you need food. Please let me find food..."

Faith

Faith leaned back against the chair and yawned.

"I think I might have a nap."

Dean

"Too bad it can't be in front of our pool," Dean sighed, deflated.

Faith

"It would've looked so nice too," Faith agreed.

She glanced over at him.

Dean

"I know. So relaxing. It's a pity we didn't get to spend much time there," Dean sighed dramatically.

Faith

"I know, I feel like I need to sleep for like a week," Faith said.

"So tired today."

Dean

"Yeah me too," Dean agreed.

"But hey, at least you can sleep in the car."

Faith

"Do you want me to drive for a bit?" Faith asked.

She gave him a concerned look.

Dean

"Maybe when we stop for food?" Dean suggested.

"Thanks Faith."

Faith

"No problem," Faith replied.

"You look exhausted. Hopefully we find a place that does decent coffee."

Sam & Dean

Sam sighed and rolled his eyes.

"Yeah sounds good," Dean agreed, "though if I get the smell of coffee I should be awake enough to keep driving then."

Faith

"Regardless, I will take over," Faith told him.

She reached over and rubbed Dean's shoulder lightly.

"You spent all yesterday digging a pool."

Dean

"True," Dean nodded, tensing his muscles as she touched him by reflex and cringing a little.

"Though the machinery did do most of the work. I just... landscaped."

Faith

Faith pulled her hand back and looked out the window.

"Well, I did less. I just... sunbaked."

Dean

"Very true. And you know, you could have done at least some of it considering you're a lot stronger than I am," Dean pointed out.

Faith

"I know," Faith said simply.

She grinned.

"But I look better in a bikini. So... I chose to play up my strong point."

Dean

"Mmm... and play you did," Dean grinned.

"I did appreciate that, by the way. You make an awesome housewife."

Faith

Faith laughed.

"You're welcome. Besides, in Stepford I doubt the wives are meant to do much more than lay around while the husbands do the work. So I was in character."

Dean

"The wives are supposed to conspire or something aren't they?" Dean looked confused.

"Like come up with evil world-ruling plots and such. That's the gist I got anyway. The whole 'behind every powerful man' thing."

Faith

"Well," Faith considered.

"I was totally plotting while sunbaking."

Dean

"Really? Anything good?" Dean smirked.

Faith

"Mmm, this and that," Faith grinned.

"Can't reveal my plans until crunch time, obviously. No one will ever see it coming."

Dean

"Oh I see," Dean nodded.

"I take it that involves me then."

Faith

"Well, world ruling plot," Faith shrugged.

"Involves the world."

Dean

"And I can't be in on it?" Dean threw in a whine for good measure.

Faith

"Do you want some cheese with that whine?" Faith teased.

Dean

"Yes," Dean nodded seriously.

Faith

"If you're a good boy for your birthday," Faith grinned.

Dean

"I have to wait that long for cheese? Hard times my friend," Dean played smoothly.

Faith

"I'm sure it will be hard," Faith replied.

"But, good things come to those who wait."

Sam & Dean

Sam pulled a face, crossing his arms over his chest.

"But what if I can't?" Dean pointed out.

"What if I like, die of hunger waiting?"

Faith

"I'm sure you will be fine," Faith said.

"Besides, if you manage to hold on, I promise you, it'll be worth it."

Dean

"But how long are we talking?" Dean looked at her suspiciously.

"Wait... starving me to death isn't part of your world domination plan, is it?"

Faith

"Well, I can't tell you that, can I?"

Faith grinned slightly.

Dean

"But the question is, how long until you feed me?" Dean pointed out.

Faith

"Depends how well you treat me," Faith teased.

Dean

"Well I can't exctly sex you up, but what if I took you out for... lunch, not dinner?" Dean grinned suggestively.

Faith

"Hmmm, well, I suppose that would work, only, I'd have to make sure it was ok with Sam."

Faith nodded.

Sam & Dean

"It's not," came Sam's stern voice from the back.

"What's up your ass?" Dean raised an eyebrow, glancing in the mirror.

"Nevermind," Sam just looked out the window again.

"Your loss," Dean shrugged.

"So if that's not ok with Sam, what else can I do? You want chocolate or something?"

Faith

"Ooh, yeah. Chocolate is always a winner."

Faith gave him a thumbs up.

Dean

"Fine, chocolate it is," Dean promised.

"And... now I've forgotten what I was buttering you up for. Cheese?"

Faith

"Yeah, I think so."

Faith tapped on the window absently.

Dean

"Man. What it takes to get cheese these days. Tough times," Dean repeated in the same tone as earlier.

"This economic crisis, I dunno..."

Faith

Faith shrugged.

"The real world kinda sucks."

Dean

"It does. Maybe we should opt out or something," Dean suggested jokingly.

Faith

"I've thought about it," Faith grinned.

"But... never could follow through."

Dean

"Not even just to another dimension?" Dean mused.

"If there's Hell dimension there's gotta be other kinds."

Faith

"The one Tru went to was pretty nice, from what I've heard," Faith said.

"I'm not going to lie, it seems very tempting."

Dean

"Isn't that the one where if we ever come back we'll be like old as," Dean screwed his face up.

Faith

"Yeah," Faith nodded.

"So maybe one where time moves the same."

Dean

"Yeah. If I came back I'd like to still be able to kill things that wanna kill us. Granted, those things would probably follow us if they wanted us that bad anyway," Dean said thoughtfully.

"But hey, reflection pool. We could get it back."

Faith

Faith grinned, and leaned back against the seat.

"Honestly, a little break would've been good."

Dean

"Tell me about it. I think we need one. Is there a place where time can like... freeze? So we don't get older but we can come back tot he same point? Because that I'm totally up for," Dean insisted.

Faith

"We should look into it," Faith replied.

"Because I think, looks wise, I'm at my peak. It's all downhill from here."

Dean

"Agreed. I'm almost 30 for Christ's sake," Dean sighed.

"I'm reaching my sexual peak."

Faith

Faith snorted.

"Honey, you've passed it by about 15 years. I mean don't get me wrong, you're very good, but you're past your peak."

Dean

"Ok maybe I am. Too bad you never got any back then," Dean smirked.

"But that's my point. It's going, and God forbid soon it'll be gone. We need to act now."

Faith

Faith grinned.

"Yeah, too bad. I'll be reaching my peak in about five years, but... can I really get better? I'm already really good."

Dean & Sam

"I'd say there's still room for improvement," Dean said seriously.

"How would you know?" Sam half glared at his brother.

"Ah... because I did her?" Dean scoffed.

Faith

"How could I improve?" Faith asked, also serious.

Dean

"I don't know... stamina?" Dean shrugged.

Faith

Faith made a face.

"That's it. Right now. You and me."

Dean

"Oh come on," Dean scoffed.

"Take out a seventeen year old. You're doing old guys."

"Dean!" Sam scowled.

"She said it!" Dean insisted.

Faith

"I did Zac when he was just passed seventeen," Faith mused.

"And he tired faster than I did."

Dean

"So the kid's a musician. Musicians are pathetic sex partners," Dean shrugged.

"They really don't have rhythm."

Faith

Faith laughed.

"Ok. Logan had a lot of stamina too."

Dean & Sam

"Logan really doesn't count, he has like an unnatural advantage. Like Sam, he totally doesn't count either."

"Why not?" Sam demanded.

"Demon blood," Dean shrugged, "we're talking pure human non-mutant blood only here."

Faith

Faith thought for a second.

"That would've been... you."

Dean

"Me?" Dean raised an eyebrow.

Faith

"Last human I slept with," Faith shrugged.

Dean

"When did the argument change from stamina to the last human you slept with?" Dean looked confused.

Faith

"It didn't, but you said mutants and demons didn't count, only humans, so I had to think about the last human I slept with and their stamina. And it was you."

Faith shrugged.

Dean

"You can't htink of anyone else?" Dean's eyebrows rose.

"Or was I just that good?"

Faith

"In the last few years, you are literally the last human I slept with," Faith said.

"I'm pretty sure."

Dean

"Wow. That's... depressing," Dean looked sad for her.

"Keeping in mind that for the last couple she's been sleeping with me," Sam pointed out.

"Even then," Dean shook his head.

Faith

"Well, Kim was a mutant and alien hybrid, Logan was a mutant, Zac was an alien. Oh! Sabre was a Godling. Octavian was a mutant... Bobby... mutant..."

Faith thought for a moment.

"Yeah, mostly mutants."

Dean

"Wow. That is really... sad. You need to get laid by humans more," Dean insisted.

"Dean," Sam sighed.

"I mean, if things don't work out with Sam," Dean quickly corrected.

Faith

Faith chuckled.

"Nah, I think I'm pretty happy with Sam, thanks."

Dean & Sam

"Whatever," Dean shrugged.

"Are you really?" Sam asked snidely.

Faith

"Well, not with that tone in your voice," Faith said, turning around to look at him.

Sam

"And you actually sound surprised at that," Sam said, feigning shock.

Faith

Faith crinkled her nose in confusion.

"Ah what now?"

Sam

"Well, you two seem pretty happily married already, so is there really any place for me in this relationship?" Sam scorned.

Faith

"Oh my God, are you being serious?" Faith asked.

"We were undercover."

Sam

"Don't you mean undercovers?" Sam continued.

Faith

"Nothing happened," Faith told him.

"I don't even think I should have to defend it, because it's ridiculous. Dean and I are not interested in each other."

Sam

"And you never were?" Sam's eyes narrowed, "how could I possibly believe that with the insane amount of flirting I have to sit through on a daily basis?"

Faith

"We were like... two years ago," Faith said, making a face.

"But not now, no."

Sam

"Did you just completely miss the point of that statement?" Sam shook his head incredulously.

"Wow."

Faith

"I'm choosing to ignore it because it's stupid," Faith told him.

"Dean, anytime you want to jump in here?"

Dean & Sam

Dean was staring equal time at his brother and the road, silently.

"It's not stupid, I happen to think it's a completely sane and logical accusation," Sam defended.

Faith

"Based on what?" Faith asked incredulously.

"Has it ever occurred to you that it's not flirting? It's just the way we talk?"

Sam

"Oh, yeah, because you totally talk exactly like that to everyone else you know," Sam was curt.

"And Logan just doesn't count, he's an asshole."

Faith

"Oh God, Dean is almost my brother these days," Faith said.

Sam

"The problem is, he's mine," Sam's voice rose a little.

"And the two of you purposely talk about things in front of my face that you know will either upset me or makes things extremely awkward for me. And guess what? There does come a point where I get fed up."

Faith

Faith sighed.

"So, you don't trust us. That's the point here, right?"

Sam

"That's not the whole point," Sam was close to fuming.

"The point is I want an end to it. And I don't see one on the horizon."

Faith

"Well, what do you want then?" Faith asked, tiredly.

"Do you want this to be over?"

Sam

"Isn't that what I just said?" Sam shrugged.

Faith

"Fine, then, Dean, just... drop me off here. I'll get a teleporter."

Faith sighed again.

Sam

"Great," Sam shook his head, "so I can't win either way. I either constantly am made a fool of, or I don't have you at all. I get it now. I was just a convenience."

Faith

Faith clenched her jaw.

"Dean, stop the car."

Sam & Dean

"Yes, Dean, stop the car," Sam insisted.

Dean sighed, waiting until he found somewhere to pull off the road before taking it. He braked in the dirt and shut the car off.

Sam was the first to open his door and get out.

Faith

Faith was out the door seconds after Sam.

She pushed him down to the ground angrily.

Sam

Sam huffed for a second, before returning to his feet.

"What gives you the God-damned right to attack me when you're the one in the wrong? I mean seriously, you thought it could go on like this forever and I wasn't eventually going to stand up for myself? What was I, a doormat?!" he demanded darkly.

Faith

"How can you not see that I don't mean what I say to Dean? I'm not being serious when I tease him. It doesn't mean anything. On either side."

Faith folded her arms across her chest.

"I didn't mean to hurt you."

Sam

"I know you don't mean it, but that makes it worse," Sam insisted.

"Because it's not a conscious thing. But it's still such a big deal. To me."

Faith

"Then I'm sorry," Faith said, glancing at him.

"And I will try to stop, I really will. But you have to say at the time when it's happening, don't let it build up."

Sam

"Do you honestly not see a problem here?" Sam was just confused now.

Faith

Faith shrugged.

"I do, now that you point it out."

Sam

"Which means you didn't before," Sam shook his head incredulously.

Faith

"I wouldn't have done it if I knew," Faith told him.

Sam

"This is stupid," Sam shook his head.

"You really didn't stop to think that if you continually flirted with someone else in front of me that it might just end up hurting my feelings at some point."

Faith

"I didn't think it was flirting," Faith replied. "I honestly didn't think it was. So, here, I'm sorry."

Sam

"Faith..." Sam put his hands on his hips.

"What exactly do you consider flirting?"

Faith

Faith shrugged.

"I don't even know what flirting is, Sam. I don't really think I do it."

Dean & Sam

A choking sound came from the car.

Sam's eyebrows went up.

"Wow. That's really... oblivious of you," he stated simply.

Faith

Faith shrugged.

"Look at me, do I look like I need to flirt?"

Sam

"No," Sam assured, "it just seems to be a habit these days. And for some reason, only with Dean. You manage to go just fine without doing it to other people, and that's why it's so confusing."

Faith

"Well, I don't mean it."

Faith looked at the ground.

Sam & Dean

Sam sighed, just staring at her.

Dean had been listening intently through the open doors, every now and then glancing between their waists. At the sudden silence, he cringed a little and returned his gaze to the front of the car.

Faith

"Am I staying or going?" Faith asked after a second.

Sam

"I'm not going to tell you what to do, Faith. I never have and I'm not going to start now," Sam insisted.

"As always, you need to decide what you want to do."

Faith

Faith shrugged.

"I'm sorry. That's all I can say."

Sam

"I know," Sam insisted.

"And I'm accepting the apology. But you need to decide if you're staying with us or not, I can't make that decision for you. So... what'll it be?"

Faith

"I'll stay as long as you'll have me," Faith replied quietly.

"As long as you want me around. I'm here."

Sam & Dean

"Of course I want you here," Sam's voice softened.

"Nothing's changed. I still can't imagine life without you. I'm just not going to force you is all."

Dean rolled his eyes.

Faith

Faith took a step towards Sam.

"Then you're stuck with me."

Sam

Sam smiled a little, keeping his eyes to the ground.

"I guess I could live with that," he bit his bottom lip.

Faith

Faith reached for his hand.

"Good."

Sam

Sam took it, and quickly kissed the back of it.

"Are we ok?" he asked, looking up again.

Faith

"We are," Faith said, sliding her arms around his waist.

"Now... want some company in the back?"

Sam

"It has been very lonely back there," Sam teased softly.

Faith

Faith grinned and took a step towards the car.

"What kind of girlfriend would I be if I didn't keep you company?"

Sam & Dean

"Exactly. I mean, I ought to write to the... board of... weird relationships about you. I'm sure there could some council or something you'd have to answer to," Sam insisted.

"You guys done?" Dean raised an eyebrow as they got in.

Faith

Faith grinned and snuggled into Sam's side as he joined her on the seat.

"We're good to go."

Sam & Dean

Sam put his arm around her as Dean started the car again and reached over to close Sam's door.

"Any hanky panky back there and both of you can just get out again," Dean warned.

Faith

Faith grinned up at Sam, reaching up to kiss him.

"Strictly no hanky panky," she chuckled.

Sam & Dean

"Bummer," Sam smirked back at her, before leaning in to kiss her on the cheek.

Dean smiled to himself, then pulled the car back out onto the highway.
