Virus

Written by Nessa and AiMsTeR

Faith and Giles

Faith let Giles support her by the elbow as they made their way over to the motel room door.

"You know," she commented, just before she was about to knock. "Your car screams midlife crisis."

Giles let out a chuckle. "I know."

She raised her fist and knocked on the door, wincing slightly from the effort that took.

Dean

Dean answered the door after checking through the window.

"Welcome back," he looked Faith up and down, aware she didn't look any better off than when she left.

Faith and Giles

"Thanks handsome," Faith said, letting Giles guide her through the door. "You remember Giles?"

Giles nodded at them both, helping Faith over to the bed.

Sam & Dean

Sam stood from the bed as the two entered.

"Yeah we remember," Dean's eyes were on Giles, "I take it this means it's bad news."

Faith and Giles

"That's one way to put it," Faith said. She settled down on the bed, pushing a pillow under her arm.

"It appears there has been an epidemic," Giles told the Winchester brothers. "The girls at the Slayer school have all been affected. As have the rogue groups I have managed to get a hold of. Willow has a theory that it's a virus that targets the Slayer gene."

"Still, so appreciative about being a Chosen One," Faith murmured.

Sam & Dean

"How long has it been out?" Sam asked.

"And do we have a cure?" Dean added.

Giles and Faith

"The girls at the school started getting sick about a week ago," Giles told them. "So far, no cure. We've got people working round the clock."

"It seems hybrid Slayers are suffering more," Faith continued. "The fully human ones seem to be faring a little better."

"You're doing the best out of all of them I have seen," Giles said. "From what you've told me and what you've demonstrated, you seem to be coping fairly well with it, which makes me suspect it may have something to do with the way you were called."

Sam

"What's the difference?" Sam shrugged.

Giles and Faith

"Uh, I'm not sure how aware you are on Slayer history," Giles said to Sam. "I'll try and keep it brief. Each generation a Slayer is born, one girl in all the world, so on and so forth. Faith was the last to be called in the traditional way, meaning, technically, she is the Slayer, rather than a Slayer. All of the other girls called should never have been activated, unless something happened to Faith."

"So, you're saying... maybe this is a natural thing? Mother nature is weeding the Slayers out to realign balance?" Faith asked, raising an eyebrow. "Some of those girls should never have been called at all, like the hybrids."

"Exactly," Giles replied. "There's a theory that this is sort of a natural selection process. It would make some sense, but it doesn't explain why you are also sick. We're assuming it's an outsider, but we can't rule out anything at the moment."

Sam

"And if it were a natural process it would have hit long before now," Sam added.

"And not as sudden," Dean chimed in.

Giles and Faith

"We're not sure of anything at the moment, other than it's only affecting Slayers," Giles repeated. "None of the staff have been shown any signs of being ill."

"Tru," Faith said suddenly. "Would she be... could it do anything to her?"

Giles thought about that for a second. "I suppose it could, yes. She did inherit some of your qualities, but she isn't a Slayer, per se. I would suggest not risking it, though. Maybe... keep your contact limited until we know for sure what we are dealing with?"

Dean

"Could she come in contact with other slayers?" Dean asked.

Faith

"Not that I'm aware of," Faith said. "But I don't remember running into any either."

She rubbed her nose.

Dean

"But all it needs is for a rogue to walk down the street," Dean pointed out.

"There's no sense in taking chances. We should warn her," Sam insisted.

Faith and Giles

"Yeah," Faith commented. "But... they could be anywhere, really. She can't go into quarantine until this is all over."

"No," Giles agreed. "But she can be a little more aware of the situation. There's no guarantee she will be infected if she does come in contact with it, but she should know to take precautions, just in case."

"Yeah, not really wanting to lose another daughter," Faith said darkly.
