Escape

Written by Nessa

Faith

Faith crept down the hallway, wincing slightly as the floorboards creaked under her feet. She paused, listening out for anyone stirring and after waiting for a minute, she decided she was in the clear.

She unlocked the door and walked outside, where Ben was waiting for her.

"Are you ready for your treatment?" he asked softly, holding his hand out for her.

"Yes," she replied, taking his hand.

She let him lead her to the car, which would take them to the airport where their jet was waiting.

Faith sat back in the jet seat, comforted by Ben's prescence.

"Everything is going to be alright," he told her.

"Now that you're here."

He rubbed her hand gently, and she smiled, her head resting against the back of the seat and she reflected on the last few hours.

As soon as Tru had shown her to her room and closed the door, Faith pushed a chair carefully up against it, propping it under the doorknob. She then moved to the phone and lifted the receiver, dialling in the number that was committed to memory.

"November?" Ben asked, sounding worried. "Where are you?"

"Help me," Faith whispered.

"We're here." Ben nudged her gently, rousing her from sleep.

Faith's eyes fluttered and she nodded tiredly, letting Ben help her out of her seat. He guided her down the aisle and down the stairs to where the car was waiting on the tarmac.

"We'll be home soon," Ben assured her.

"Ok," Faith replied.

The van pulled up at the back entrance of the Dollhouse, and the driver walked around to open the door. Ben jumped out first, then lifted Faith out, walking her over to the elevator, where the usual woman was waiting.

"Are you ready for your treatment?" she asked, taking Faith's hand.

Faith smiled and watched the doors close. Once the elevator had reached it's level, she stepped out and the woman led her over to the screen, where she dressed in the singlet and sweatpants she was handed.

"Are you ready for your treatment?" Topher asked, indicating the chair.

Faith nodded and sat down.

"This might pinch a little more," he told her. "You've had a rough week, haven't you?"

She lay back as the chair reclined.

~*~*~*~

"Hello November," Topher greeted. "How are you feeling?"

"Did I fall asleep?" Faith asked.

"For a little while," he replied.

"Shall I go now?"

"If you like," Topher said, smiling kindly.

Faith sat up and walked towards the door.

"November?"

She turned. "Yes?"

"Dr Saunders just wants to check on you, would you mind stopping in?"

She nodded.
