The first thing Saku noticed as he stepped into the classroom was that the four other students were all noticbly older than himself. Well, given that he was technically only four, that wasn't exactly hard, but he certainly was the only one who looked in his twenties. With the possible exception of the pixie girl. Pixies always looked young, even when they were a hundred years old.
An elf looked up as he took his seat and gave him a nod. Whether the elf was male or female, Saku wasn't entirely certain, and a smile came to mind as he was reminded of Shannon. To his right, a centaur was pawwing at the floor impatiently, and at the front a creature which Skau couldn't identify through all the hair had its nose stuck in a book.
The first few years were structured classes. The magical theory class was the only complusory one, which was what this class was, and passing this class meant you graduated. Having gotten plenty of the theory at the Watcher Academy, Saku hope this class would be a bit more advanced. What he really looked forward to where the elective classes, of which you could take as many as you wanted, even after you graduated. Saku had selected fire magic and protection magic as two of his electives, hoping to expand on his existing knowledge as he felt he had a great deal of room for improvement. His third elective was translocation magic, which was an extension on portal magic. His own recent use of this magic had given him a taste for it, although he'd always had an interest in it.
The classroom lit up with a funny blue light and a voice entered in his head.
*Good morning class,* said a musical, flowing, feminine voice. *My name is Lureena.*
Everyone looked around and there was a musical laugh.
*Very good, Rucklourin, it usually takes a lot longer for people to figure out what I am.*
The furry creature Saku notice earlier sat up straight. Ahh, that must be Rucklourin. As Saku was processing this, he noted that the blue light seemed to shrink until it became a concentrated ball.
"Will 'o the wisp," gasped the pixie.
Lureena laughed again and flitted around the room.
*Now, now, Firthi, there's no reason for you to be upset. I'm not going to lure you to your doom, and unlike Cathenia here, I'm a lot older than I appear.*
Firthi, the elf, stiffened, while Cathenia giggled merrily. Lureena paused in front of Saku.
*If you're really worried about child sprits, I'd say you have more concerned about Saku here.*
Saku chuckled nervously and Lureena went on to greet the female centaur, Rhiannon and reassure her that she was more than welcome to cast an environment spell if it made her fell more comfortable.
The Lureena's friendly tone changed and the class began.
