Emergency Trip To Xavier's

Written by AiMsTeR and Nessa

Dean & Sam

Dean pulled the car to a halt out front of Xavier's. They didn't plan on being there long, so he didn't bother with the garage. Sam was the first one out the car, pulling Faith with him.

"Anything seem familiar?" Sam asked her as Dean got out.

Faith

Faith looked around, taking in the surroundings, before shaking her head.

"Should it?" she asked.

Sam & Dean

"Nevermind," Sam rubbed her back reassuringly.

"Let's get this over with," Dean grumbled, heading up to the front door.

Faith

Faith followed along with Sam, her eyes wide as she took in every detail of their environment.

Jubilee looked up from the desk, where she'd been on duty. She blew a bubble with her gum and let it pop, raising an eyebrow as she spotted the trio.

"Oh," she scoffed, eyes on Faith. "You're back. Hope you're not planning on staying."

Sam & Dean

"Don't worry, we're not," Sam scorned.

"We're here to see the prof," Dean announced.

Faith

"You two, I could care less about," Jubilee said, lifting up the phone as she spoke. "But she isn't welcome here."

The Asian put the phone to her ear and pressed a few numbers.

"Professor Xavier? I have Faith and - ok. I'll send them up."

Faith shrunk back behind Sam, not understanding why Jubilee kept staring at her.

"Third floor, you need someone to show you?" Jubilee asked, still glaring at the Slayer.

Sam & Dean

"No," Sam turned and led Fath away.

Dean smiled snarkily before following.

They made their way up to the third floor and soon found the office. Dean went to open the door, but Sam stopped him and knocked first.

Hank and Faith

Hank opened the door and let the three of them in. He resumed his place next to Xavier, who was seated at his desk, his fingers steepled under his chin.

"Faith," Xavier greeted. "Sam, Dean."

Hank nodded a greeting at them, and Faith stared blankly.

Dean & Sam

"I think you know why we're here," Dean said to the professor, moving to the side a little.

"Can you help her?" Sam asked earnestly, his hands on her shoulders.

Faith

"I hope so," Xavier said. He wheeled out from behind his desk and stopped in front of Faith.

"Hello," Faith said pleasantly.

"Hello Faith," Xavier replied kindly. "Would you like to take a seat?"

Faith obediently sat in the seat that he indicated.

"I'm going to take a look inside your mind, if that's alright with you?" he asked.

Faith looked up at Sam, unsure.

Sam

"It's ok," Sam assured, "he's going to try to help you."

Faith and Hank

Faith nodded and turned back to Xavier.

"If you resist, it could make it painful," Xavier warned gently. "Do you trust me?"

Faith was quiet for a long moment, something so familiar about that statement. "What?"

"Do you trust me?" he asked kindly.

"With my life," she replied automatically.

Xavier glanced at Hank, who shrugged.

Sam

"We think it's an imprint," Sam explained softly.

"There's a few statements she automatically responds to."

Faith and Hank

"Ah," Xavier replied, nodding. "Faith, if you're ready?"

"November," Faith told him. "Only Sam calls me Faith."

Hank polished his glasses, eyes crinkling in confusion over that statement.

"Alright then, November," Xavier replied pleasantly. "If you would sit still for a moment."

Faith did as instructed as Xavier let his telepathic prescence enter her mind.

Sam & Dean

Sam knelt beside her chair as Dean watched on with a scowl from the other side of the room.

Faith and Hank

Xavier frowned as he exploded, gently prodding around, careful not to hurt her or damage her anymore than she already appeared to be.

Faith stared blankly ahead.

"Charles?" Hank asked softly. "You look concerned."

Xavier pulled out of her mind, and reached out to touch Faith's chin, but she turned away.

"November?" Xavier said to her. "What can you remember?"

Faith looked back at him. "Lindsey left me with Sam."

"How long ago?"

"I'm not sure. Not long."

Sam

"A few days ago," Sam responded for her.

Hank and Faith

"Charles?" Hank tried again. "What's wrong?"

Professor Xavier frowned, watching Faith carefully.

"There's nothing there," he answered.

"What do you mean?" Hank asked.

"There's nothing to unlock because there are no walls. There are no memories. A mind is a complex thing, and often obstacles can be hidden, but she has no memories of who she is," Xavier replied. "She does, however, possess a few memories of being November."

Sam & Dean

"Could you maybe find the imprints and work through those?" Sam asked, worried.

Dean facepalmed.

Faith

Xavier shook his head.

"The only thing she has been programmed with, to use that expression, are the few statements that you've probably encountered. Everything is going to be alright - "

"Now that you're here," Faith answered.

"Like that," he continued. "Whoever did this was very thorough. But it's extremely dangerous to wipe someone's mind this way."

Dean & Sam

"Then we just need to work out how to get it back," Dean shrugged.

"If they can take it away, they can give it back."

"I'm sure it's not that easy," Sam looked up at him.

Faith

"November, if you don't mind?" Xavier asked.

Faith nodded, and the Professor slipped back into her mind, shuffling through the pictures of the Dollhouse in her memories.

"Chicago," he said after a long pause.

Sam & Dean

"Chicago?" the boys repeated in unison.

"What's in Chicago?" Dean frowned.

Faith

"The establishment that is responsible for this," Xavier replied. "November? How long has it been since your last treatment?"

"Is it time for my treatment?" Faith asked.

Xavier paused thoughtfully. "Who gives you your treatments?"

"Topher," Faith answered. "I like him."

Sam & Dean

"Treatments?" Sam stood up again.

"You mean the memory wipes?" Dean asked.

Faith

"They fix me," Faith said, glancing up at Sam.

"Do they hurt?" Xavier asked her.

"They pinch," Faith replied, echoing Topher's words. "Sometimes it pinches more than at other times. But not too badly. I usually fall asleep."

Dean

"Any idea of where in Chicago? It's one hell of a haystack," Dean pointed out.

Faith

"I can only give you a vague picture," Xavier told him. "She doesn't remember the outside very clearly, but this might help."

He let the picture enter the minds of both brothers.

"Would you like to see Topher again?" he asked carefully.

Faith nodded. "And... someone else. I can't remember his name. He looks after me and makes sure I get my treatments on time."

Dean & Sam

"I think I know where that is," Dean looked at Sam, obviously wired and ready to go.

"Thankyou so much professor," Sam said sincerely.

Faith

"It was not a problem," Xavier replied, then he looked across at Faith. "November? I hope they help you there."

Faith nodded, not really understanding what he was saying, but she stood up and reached for Sam's hand again.

"Let me know if it is successful," Xavier said to Sam.

Sam & Dean

"I'll let you know regardless," Sam assured, before leading Faith from the room.

Dean saluted and followed.
