Faith

Faith got out of bed, and she padded over to the window. She watched the sunrise through the curtains, enthralled by the sight.

She rubbed her arms absently, feeling a little overwhelmed and scared again.

Sam

Sam's eyes fluttered open as he felt the movement.

"You ok?" he asked softly, forgetting for a moment.

Faith

Faith turned, startled by the sound of his voice.

"I... we usually swim now."

Sam & Dean

Sam sat up, grunting a little.

"Who's 'we'?" he asked, squinting at the light as Dean rolled over in his sleep.

Faith

"My friends," Faith replied quietly.

She sat back down on the edge of the bed.

"I've never seen... what is it? Out there. I watched it rise. It was bright and really pretty."

Sam

"What friends?" Sam rubbed his eyes before focusing on her again.

"Tell me about them."

Faith

Faith shrugged.

"They're like me," she told him. "A few of us swim in the morning. Then yoga. I don't like yoga as much. I like swimming. We want to be our best."

Sam

"What do your friends look like?" Sam asked curiously, pulling the blankets off his legs and curling them under him.

Faith

Faith looked over at him and shrugged.

"Like... normal," she said thoughtfully. "Sierra has hair as long as mine, but it's lighter. Victor has curly hair. I like him, he helps me."

Sam

"Helps you... how?" Sam asked, brain ticking over as he thought of the right questions to ask.

Faith

"When I first got there, he showed me around. He times me in the pool sometimes."

Faith nodded.

Sam

"Can you tell me what 'there' looks like?" Sam asked calmly.

"It sounds... nice."

Faith

Faith shrugged again.

"It's big. There's wooden floors. A pool. Showers."

Sam

"Could you draw it for me?" Sam asked.

Faith

Faith shook her head.

"No."

She folded her knees up against her chest.

Sam

"Why not?" Sam asked curiously, "they didn't let you draw?"

Faith

Faith shook her head.

"I can't. I don't know how."

Sam

"Want me to show you?" Sam offered.

Faith

Faith looked across at him and smiled timidly. She nodded, then tilted her head slightly.

"I do know you, don't I?" she asked. "I feel like I do, but I just can't... can't remember."

Sam

"Yeah," Sam smiled sadly, "but let's not get into that now."

He reached over the bed and into his bag to pull out his sketch pad and a pencil. He got up and went to the table, indicating for her to sit on the chair he held out.

Faith

Faith followed him over to the table and sat down in the chair he indicated.

She waited patiently for instruction.

Sam

Sam pushed her chair in far enough to be comfortable, then placed the pad in front of her and carefully put the pencil in her hand properly.

"Right, hold it like that," he instructed, before moving around behind her.

His right arm slid down hers until his hand covered hers comfortably. Slowly and carefully he touched the pencil to the paper and started drawing a basic window-scape.

"See?" he smiled, "by drawing, you can put whatever you see with your eyes onto the paper. Then you can keep it with you forever."

Faith

Faith let his hand guide hers, and she was quiet, thinking about the comfort of his fingers over hers.

She tilted her head slightly to look up at him, and with her left hand, she reached up and touched his cheek lightly, tracing the crinkles around his eyes from his smile.

Sam

Sam hesitated.

"You need to concentrate if you want the lines to be in the right place," he insisted finally.

Faith

Faith pulled her hand back and she rubbed her fingers against her palm, while her other hand drew along the paper.

"Did you hold my hand a lot?" she asked, tongue poking out a little as she concentrated. "It feels... like it belongs."

Sam

Sam's face fell again.

"Yeah, I did," he nodded a little, before clearing his throat awkwardly.

"Now see, once you've drawn the window, you can draw what's outside it," he frowned, starting to draw a small building.

Faith

"Outside it?" Faith asked, letting him take control with her hand.

"Like what?"

Sam

"What did you see out there?" Sam asked her.

"There's the building across the street. Some trees. And you saw the sun, so we can draw that too."

Faith

"The sky," Faith said, nodding. "I like the sky."

She let Sam's hand guide hers across the page, sketching out the scenary that could be seen from their window.

"What's my name?" she asked, still focusing on the drawing. "What did you call me before?"

Sam

"Faith," Sam said softly, as he coloured the sky a little with the pencil.

Faith

Faith smiled a little.

"I like that," she said. "When I'm there, they all me something else."

Sam

"I like Faith better," Sam said calmly, "it has... history."

Faith

"You can call me Faith if you like," Faith told him softly, taking lead with the pencil.

She was silent for a long moment, brows creased in concentration as she sketched the shape of a vase. She started filling in the detailed design, her eyes slightly glazed as she drew something that she couldn't recall seeing, but she could remember it.

Sam

"Ok I will," Sam nodded, taking his hand away as she went freeform.

He carefully pulled up the nearby chair and watched as she worked.

It took him a long moment to realise what she was doing.

"How did you know to draw that?" Sam frowned.

Faith

Faith stopped and looked up at him, eyes worried.

"Is it wrong?" she asked. "I just... I saw it. In my head."

Sam

"No, no it's not wrong. In fact it's perfect," Sam said disbelievingly.

"This vase was in a haunted house we were investigating last year, I think. It was a long time ago. I remember it, it was very unique."

Faith

"And we were there together?" Faith asked.

She paused, thinking about Sam and herself for a second.

"This feels... familiar. Us. Sitting together. I know that I know you, and I can almost see you in my head."

Sam

"I'm sorry that you can't," Sam shook his head, looking into her eyes sadly.

"If I only knew how to help you, I would in an instant. But I don't. And I can't."

Faith

The pencil stopped in it's motions as Faith looked up at Sam.

"You look sad. Do you miss me?"

Sam

The corner of Sam's mouth lifted in a small smile, but his eyes teared up a little.

"Yeah... I guess I do," he said softly.

Faith

Faith started to reach across for his face, but she stopped at the last moment, leaving it hovering for a second, before pulling it back.

"But I'm here," she said quietly, matching his tone. "I don't understand. I'm sorry."

Sam

"You have no reason to be," Sam insisted, before wiping his eyes.

"And the people that do, will be soon enough. We just need to find them, and restore your memory, and then... then we'll be fine."

Faith

Faith nodded, looking down at the paper again.

"You like me, don't you?"

Sam

"No," Sam shook his head slightly.

"I love you. And once upon a time... you loved me back."

Faith

Faith glanced up at him through her eyelashes.

"I like you, Sam," she said, not really grasping the deeper emotion he was expressing. "You make me feel..."

She tilted her head slightly, thinking.

"With my life."

Dean & Sam

"Give it up Sammy, there's no one home," Dean grumbled suddenly, snapping Sam out of his trance.

"That's the thing, maybe there is," Sam told him pointedly.

Faith

Faith recoiled at the sound of Dean's voice, almost as if he had slapped her.

She flipped to a blank page in Sam's sketch pad and started a new picture.

Sam

Sam saw her drawing again, and leant across the table to put his hand over hers.

"Can you do me a favor?" he asked.

Faith

Faith looked at his hand covering hers again.

"Yes?"

Sam

"When you can, I'd like you to draw that place for me. The people, the rooms, anything that caught your eye. Can you do that for me?" Sam raised his eyebrows.

Faith

"I can try," Faith said, nodding.

She looked down at the page.
