"Okay," said Nikki. "You've been staring at that letter for at least ten minutes now. What gives?"
"I've been invited to a meeting by the Elder."
"The who?"
"The Elder. He's the head of the YIRAAS Council is is like, 350 years old."
"He is?"
"His speciality power is immortality."
"Ahh, that's a relief. For a second there I thought you were going to tell me that it's normal for Daths to live that long."
"Hardly," Isaac replied.
"So, wat's the meeting about?"
"Powerology. He's inviting all the powerologists to it."
"Of which you're one."
Isaac shook his head.
"I've only been at this a couple of years. A lot of the other guys I've met have been at it a lot longer. I'm a newbie."
"Yet you have the website."
Isaac dismissed that with a wave of his hand.
"I got it started," he said. "But all registered powerologists can update it. Besides, officially, YIRAAS owns the site."
"Details, details," this time it was Nikki's turn to be dismissive. "I'm sure you wouldn't have been invited if someone didn't think you belonged there."
Isaac caught her eyes.
"I guess I'm a little nervous. I mean, I have met the Elder before - Dad being a member of the Council and all - but it was only ever a few seconds at a time, y'know? This is going to be an actual, professional meeting, not a social admiration of a colleagues' child."
Nikki smiled.
"I'm sure you'll be fine."
