Zac sat down on the lounge, feet up on the coffee table and was comfortably reading when he heard the front door being opened and unlocked.
"About time," he thought to himself, looking forward to surprising Kate with his impromptu arrival.
A couple of girls walked in, neither of whom Zac recognised. It wasn't long before one of them saw Zac's head peeking out from above the lounge and shae gave a little scream.
"What the hell?"
"Umm... hi..." Zac stammered.
Maybe he hadn't thought this one through. The second girl closed the distance and grabbed the collar of his shirt, jerking him up, and surprising Zac with her strength (those arms didn't exactly look very muscular).
"Who are you," she demanded. "How'd you get in here, and what the hell do you want?"
"Umm, well, I'm looking for Kate," he replied. "I'm -"
"Zac Hanson!" a third girl shrieked.
All three looked over as the Hanson fan proceeded to stammer excitedly about how awesome it was to meet him and how great she thought his music was, would he mind signing an autograph and oh hey what brought him to Japan anyway?
"I'm just visiting my wife, is all," Zac replied. "Kate's not with you?"
Kate
"Want to grab something quick for dinner before you bury yourself in study again?" Kate asked, as she and one of the other models, Lauren, walked up the stairs to the front door of their sharehouse.
Lauren nodded, grinning. "Yes please. I'm going cross eyed. I didn't think studying and modelling was going to be so difficult."
"Aww," Kate sympathised. "But - "
"Do you hear squealing?" Lauren interrupted.
Kate stopped mid step and tilted her head, listening. "Faintly."
"Something exciting on tv, you think?" the other girl grinned.
"Smurf marathon?" Kate smirked.
Lauren opened the front door and they both walked in, hearing the excited chit chat. "Can we bypass?"
"Not if we want food," Kate replied.
Lauren let out a theatrical sigh, and the pair grinned, before heading further into the house to see what the fuss was about.
Zac
"Soon? Oh that's good," Zac replied. "Great even."
"But why do you want to see Kate, if you're here to -" the Hanson fan began, then launched into another set of shrieks.
Zac winced.
"Okay well, this isn't exactly going to plan... Kate was supposed to be here when I got here for starters."
"Yeah... how did you get in here anyway?" asked the second girl.
"Umm... I'm not just a talented musician?" Zac suggested, not willing to mention his use of atom manipulation.
Kate
"He's also a thief," Kate offered as she walked into the room. A huge grin was spreading across her face.
"Hi stinky."
Zac
"It's a bad habit, I know," Zac replied cheerfully. "Hi beautiful."
He was greatly relieved at Kate appearence.
"Kate!" exclaimed the Hanson fan. "How come you never told us you were married to Zac Hanson?"
Kate
"What's so special about being married to Zac Hanson?" Kate asked, playing dumb.
"I think... isn't there a band named Hanson?" Lauren played along.
"Oh yeah, I think there might be," Kate continued, closing the distance between herself and Zac.
Zac
"I heard they suck," Zac nodded, as he climbed over the lounge.
"You don't suck!" the fan objected.
Zac's eyes glinted with mischief as he grinned at Kate, not just inches away.
"There are so many possible answers to that."
Kate
"Don't be gross," Kate said, making a face. She wrapped her arms around Zac's waist.
"Hi."
Zac
"What?" Zac asked with mock innocence. "I like candy."
And before another word could be said, he kissed her thoroughly.
Kate
Kate smiled at him once he'd pulled away.
"Guess dinner is out," Lauren smirked.
"Sorry," Kate grinned, looking over her shoulder.
"All good," the other model replied, waving her hand as she went to bury herself in her study.
Zac
"I'm sorry, did I spoil your plans?" Zac asked.
The other girls began to scatter, one of them making a point of pulling the Hanson fan with her.
Kate
Kate shook her head. "Nothing special, we were just going to grab a quick dinner."
She pulled out of his arms but kept one of her hands in his.
"But to make up for it, you can buy me dinner."
Zac
Zac grinned and gave her hand a little squeeze.
"Sounds good to me. Know any good burger joints?" he joked.
Kate
"Yes," Kate replied. "But your wife wants sushi, so that's what we're having."
She grinned at him.
Zac
Zac chuckled.
"Okay, sushi it is," he replied cheerfully. "Y'know, I've never actually had sushi before. Maybe plenty of jokes about raw fish though."
Kate
"You know that you can get chicken and beef sushi, right?" Kate asked, raising an eyebrow.
She let go of his hand for a second.
"Let me get changed quickly."
Zac
"Details, details," Zac grinned. "Never let the truth get in the way of a good story?"
He gave her a quick kiss on the cheek and sat on the end of the lounge while he waited for Kate to get changed.
Kate
Kate went into her room and quickly changed into a pair of jeans and threw a jacket on over her shirt.
"Alright," she said, coming out again. "Let's go."
Zac
Zac walked to the front door and held it open for Kate.
"After you," he said with a grandoise sweep of the arm.
Kate
Kate grinned and walked out the front, before waiting for Zac to take her hand again.
"When did you get here, by the way?"
Zac
Zac glanced at his watch as he took Kate's hand.
"Oh almost two hours," he replied off-handedly. "The plan was for you to already be home by the time I got there. Obviously, my timing was off. So I decided to let myself in."
He nodded.
Kate
"Yeah, we ran late today. Light went out."
Kate grinned.
"Well, luckily no one caught you breaking in."
Zac
"Ahh I see," Zac replied. "And I didn't break a single thing. I walked through the door."
His eyes twinkled with mischeif.
Kate
"I think that still counts as breaking in," Kate told him.
She led the way down the street.
"How's everyone back home?"
Zac
Zac chuckled.
"Everyone's good," he replied. "Nothing spectacular to report. Getting some work done on the new album, that's about it."
Kate
"Oh cool," Kate said, nodding.
"Recording yet? Or just... writing?"
Zac
"We've finally started recording," Zac nodded. "Hurrah! And how's the modelling going?"
He swung their clasped hands back and forth a little.
Kate
"Good," Kate replied, nodding.
"It's a lot more work than I ever did in the States, so it's kind of exciting. Good learning experience."
Zac
"Ahh, marvellous," Zac replied. "I miss you like crazy, but I'm glad things are going so well for you."
Kate
"Yeah."
Kate nodded, rubbing her nose with her free hand.
"So what else is news?"
Zac
"Saku got into this, I dunno, prestige magic school. He's very excited about it, y'know, in that "I can't believe this is happening to me" way. Apparently its a very big deal, and I'm sure if I kenw anything about magic I'd agree," Zac laughed. "In any case, you need something called 'portal magic' to get there - which Saku's spent the last two weeks teaching himself - so you can live anywhere you want and can't use the "I got stuck in traffic" excuse if you run late."
>HR>
Kate
"Oh awesome."
Kate nodded, and they continued on their way.
