Dean removed his bloodied gloves and threw them into the thrush by the side of the road. Closing the trunk and looking up at the sunrise, he got in the impala and headed back to the motel.
Looking through the window to make sure Faith and his brother were still there, he picked the lock and walked in.
"Hey," he greeted tiredly, dumping his bag by the door.
"Dean, where the hell have you been?" Sam looked up, just as tired.
"You don't wanna know."
Faith
Faith sat up slowly, blinking in the morning light.
"Hey Tiger. Nice to see you again."
Dean & Sam
"And you, Mom."
"What?" Sam frowned.
"I ran into Cas the other night," Dean admitted.
"The night you went missing?" Sam hit.
"Yeah," Dean gave him a warning glance, "he ah... gave me my memory back."
Faith
Faith jumped out of the bed, forgetting her less than appropriate attire and threw her arms around Dean.
"Thank you!"
Dean & Sam
"Don't than me," Dean insisted, taken aback at her advance.
"So what do you remember?" Sam asked.
"Almost everything," Dean admitted, "and dude, your kid is badass. We need to find the sucker and kill it. And fast."
Faith
"Finally, I don't feel so freaking crazy all the time."
Faith stepped back, and looking down, she grabbed one of Sam's shirts and threw it over the top of her underwear.
"Do we know who has him?" she asked, then paused, her face falling slightly.
He didn't even have a name.
Dean
"No," Dean admitted.
"Does anyone else remember yet?"
Faith
Faith shook her head.
"Everyone else I've spoken to is missing patches. Logan remembers me launching him across the street without even touching him when he tried to attack me, but he doesn't remember why I could do that. He can't remember hearing the heartbeat."
Sam & Dean
"But we were like that too," Sam pointed out, "we remember certain things happening, just not that she was pregnant. Like we've got just enough to pass time or something."
Dean nodded.
"I have a theory," his eyebrows rose.
Faith
"Shoot," Faith said, sitting down on the bed.
"At this point I'll accept that it's evil bunnies."
Dean
"For almost a year now, it's like we've been picked off on by one. I almost got drowned, Faith was almost burned alive, Sam... well ok, not so much you, but someone is definitely out there who wants us gone," Dean tried to explain.
"And I don't know, but I'm willing to put something down that it's the same prick."
Faith
"That's true," Faith said thoughtfully.
"We never connected the dots before, we just thought with our lives we did encourage that sort of thing... but maybe... maybe it was all part of a grander plan. For you, Sam."
Sam & Dean
"Great," Sam huffed, "so now we're thinking it's Lilith? Or someone tied to her?"
"We're not thinking it's Lilith," Dean shook his head, "didn't we work out it was a human slash mutant? And somehow I think Lilith would have taken a more direct, throat-slashing approach."
Faith
"It makes more sense for it to be a mutant," Faith said.
"The powers are all pretty common, but all in one person is a little unusual."
Dean
"I don't suppose there's some sort of database we could check?" Dean asked sarcastically.
Faith
"Not exactly," Faith said, thoughtfully.
"Leave it with me, I can talk to Xavier."
Dean & Sam
"Sooner the better," Dean insisted, "and now, I need a shower."
Sam watched after him, waited until the door had closed, then looked back at Faith.
"There was blood on his jacket," he said softly, confused.
Faith
Faith nodded.
"We'll work it out."
