"It was the strangest thing," Amber said.
"Mmm?" Saku inquired.
"I just went over to see Dexter and he broke up with me."
"I'm sorry to hear that."
"Liar."
Saku smiled.
"He opened the door, took one look at me, then started screaming and clutching his groin," Amber shook his head. "Then he screamed at me that he never wanted to see me again and we were through, and slammed the door."
"You okay?"
Amber shrugged.
"You didn't have anything to do with it, did you?"
"Would it matter if I did?"
"Maybe."
"Well, what I did I did for you. Because you're my friend, and I don't like to see my friends hurt."
"Saku -"
"I also did it for everyone else."
"Huh?"
"You're not the only one Dexter has abused. And you wouldn't have been the last either. I've made sure he'll never hurt another woman again."
Amber was taken aback by the determined look on Saku's face.
"What did you do?"
"I gave them - Dexter and his father - a very persuasive reason to change their ways."
"You're not going to give me the details are you?"
"Nope," Saku shook his head, then relented slightly. "Okay, amongst other things, they've been permanently removed from the genepool - whether they succeed in changing their ways or not, they cannot suicide, and even thinking about abusing a women will cause them a great deal of pain."
Amber paused.
"Hence Dexter's screaming when he saw me?"
"Probably too many 'fond' memories."
"Saku -"
"What's done is done, Amber. I don't regret what I did, only that I had to do it."
