Hey, favourite half brother...

Written by Nessa and Michelle

Tru

Tru uncapped the lid on her highlighter as she waited for Saku to answer the phone. Studying the page for a few seconds, she highlighted the passage she needed, before turning to another one of her books that was sprawled across the table.

Another huge notebook filled with wedding information was at her right hand.

Saku

Saku was concentrating on his homework when his mobile phone rang. His concentration broken, the spell collapsed and Saku had to cast another one quickly before his bed got covered in green slime. He picked up the phone then, wishing he remembered to put it on silent.

"Hello?"

Tru

"Hey Saku," Tru greeted, flipping through a medical textbook with one hand, and the wedding planner in the other.

"Sorry, hope I'm not interrupting anything."

Saku

"Hey Tru," Saku said cheerfully. "Nah not really. Homework is always one of those things you need to be interupted in. But not too much because then it'll never get done and you'll have to face the wrath of the assigning teacher, which sucks. How's things? Oh and congratulations by the way."

Tru

"Thanks, you too, by the way."

Tru grinned faintly.

"Busy, but you probably know what that's like. Trying to juggle Med School and planning a wedding... chaos ensues."

Saku

"Thanks," Saku chuckled. "Actually we've decided to take our time making plans. Haven't even set a date yet, but it's going to be sometime between now and the next two years when Trina graduates college."

Tru

"Ah," Tru said, nodding. "We figured it would be better to do it this way, I mean, this is probably the easiest year I'll have, considering what I'm studying. So, we're getting it all done now, so that I can focus on school."

She paused.

"And I cannot believe I even said that."

Saku

Saku laughed.

"Well, it makes sense anyway," he grinned. "How is med school going anyway?"

Tru

"Eh," Tru shrugged. "It's hard, but I'm enjoying it, as weird as that is. It's interesting. That's probably a better way for it."

She paused.

"What are you doing with yourself these days?"

Saku

"Still studying at the Watcher Academy," Saku replied. "Well, we have exams at the moment, which I'm probably going to ace because I'm that good. And modest. I'm starting to look at other magic schools though. The Watcher Academy is all well and good but magic is only a secondary focus here and I've already read all the books they have on the subject three times."

Tru

"Plus, Watchers in general don't get a lot of field time," Tru shrugged. "Not a huge fan of the Council, considering they keep trying to kill Mom."

She regarded that for a moment.

"Probably not so much anymore, considering Sam shot half the elite team."

Saku

Saku chuckled.

"Go Sam," he said. "I'd probably make a lousy Watcher anyway. So, how's Liam?"

Tru

"Really good," Tru replied. "He's working at a local school, teaching history. Being the bread winner, while I'm at work, ha."

She scratched her nose.

"And Trina?"

Saku

"She's studying engineering," Saku replied. "So another reason to put off getting married - neither of us are earning anything."

He chuckled.

Tru

Tru smiled.

"Yeah, probably a good idea. Though, I have to admit, Angel's funding most of the wedding."

Saku

"Ahh lucky you," Saku replied. "And how are the wedding plans coming along anyway?"

Tru

"Good, actually, that's why I was calling."

Tru scratched the side of her cheek.

"I was wondering if you would like to be in the bridal party?"

Saku

"Who, me?" Saku asked. "Oh hey sure. Lemme guess, flower girl?"

He chuckled at his own joke.

Tru

"Nah," Tru dismissed. "You're not pretty enough."

Saku

Saku laughed.

"But seriously, I would be honoured to be involved."

Tru

"Well, I was kinda hoping... would you like to be a groomsman? It's just... Liam doesn't have family and he spent a lot of his life... long story."

Tru sighed softly, remembering Lia for a moment.

"But yeah. So if you'd like to... it would mean a lot to both of us."

Saku

Saku nodded.

"Sure, I'd be delighted."

Tru

"Awesome," Tru said, smiling.

"I'll let you know about suit fittings and everything a bit later. We're still trying to find a day to schedule that in. Thank God for teleporters, right?"

Saku

Saku chuckled.

"Yes, indeed," he agreed. "So far they've given me an awesome reason to put off studying portal magic, ha! Just let me know when you need me."

Tru

"I'm trying for sometime this week or early next week," Tru told him. "Mom's the hardest to track down, because they spend so much time on the road and I'm never quite sure how far away she is."

She put her pen down and thought for a moment.

"But I'll let you know... I should get back to studying, and let you get back to it too."

Saku

"Okay," Saku said. "Sounds like a plan."

He grinned.

"Yeah, I suppose homework is marginally important..."

Tru

"I'll catch up with you later. See ya," Tru said.

She turned back to her studying as she hung up the phone.

Saku

"See ya," Saku replied.

He hung up the phone and took a moment to gather his thoughts before practicing the spell again.
