Ty wiped the sweat away from his forehead, leaning on the shovel for a breather. He tapped the freshly turned earth over Dean's coffin and chuckled to himself, before mockingly tossing a bouquet of flowers on top.
"Rest in peace, Deano."
He smirked a little, then turned around, tired, dirty and sweaty as he headed for his car.
~*~*~*~
Faith yawned, glancing up at Sam who seemed engrossed in the book.
"Not to be a party pooper, but I'm kinda beat."
Sam
"Yeah," Sam sighed, marking his page and closing the book, "I'm not getting any more than we already know. Maybe we could come back after we've exhausted other means."
Faith
Faith nodded, standing up and stretching languidly. She rubbed the back of her neck tiredly.
"Come on, let's go sleep. Together."
Sam & Dean
"I like the sound of that," Sam mused, leaning over to kiss her cheek.
He stood up and gathered his things.
"I bet Dean's laying there enjoying the magic fingers again."
~*~
Dean coughed as he woke up, hitting his head on something hard.
"Ow," he grunted, hand going to his face as he lay back down.
He waited a moment for the pain to subside, then frowned as he felt with his other hand what he was laying on.
Wood. Covered in thin cloth, but still wood. His hands shot to the ceiling in the coffin, and he quickly felt around.
"Oh no no no not again..." he uttered between his teeth.
Faith
"Thought you might," Faith said, taking his hand as they left the building.
She yawned, moving closer to Sam as the cool night air hit them.
"But if Dean's awake, I can't touch you in naughty places and watch you try and keep quiet."
Sam & Dean
"Unless we have a shower. Are you feeling dirty?" Sam mused, putting his arm around her shoulders.
~*~
Dean had stopped to take a few deep breaths.
"Ok. I did this half dead, I can surely do it a bit drugged," he told himself.
He carefully ripped the cloth from the top of the coffin and felt the wood panelling with his fingertips. It already wouldn't be as easy as this pine box wasn't a rugged half assed job like the one Sam and Bobby had buried him in.
Digging his nails into the edges of the wood, he felt it splintering sharply as he worked to loosen the edging.
Faith
Faith grinned slightly, looking up at Sam through her eyelashes.
"Filthy," she said, nodding. "In desperate need of a shower."
Sam & Dean
"Great, that's settled," Sam planted a quick kiss on her forehead.
As they approached the motel he vaguely remembered Dean having the room key, so fetched his lock pick from his pocket.
~*~
Dean spluttered as the inevitable dirt finally hit him in the face. Praying to whoever would listen that he wasn't the full six feet under, he pulled away another plank and worked to scoot the dirt to his feet.
Faith
"You're kinda hot when you're being all shady," Faith observed.
"Well, you're always hot, but you know. More so. When you're shady."
Sam, Dean & Castiel
"This isn't shady," Sam mused, "shady is breaking into somewhere actually alarmed. This is just... mischief."
He stopped in his tracks as he sighted the door, over half open already. As a precaution his hand flew to his pistol.
~*~
Dean had dug upward a few feet, and was well beyond the realisation that he'd been buried deeper than the last time. He wasn't far from giving up when he suddenly felt himself being pulled roughly from above.
When he finally made it to the surface he pulled himself the rest of the way out and collapsed at Castiel's feet.
"You took your time," he coughed out.
"I am sorry. I was not expecting to find you... buried."
"Figures. Seeing as you couldn't leave me topside last time," Dean grunted as he pulled himself to his feet, "where have you been anyway?"
"Fighting the seals," Castiel watched Dean dust himself off.
"And why are you here now?"
"A warning. Uriel wanted to come, but I-"
"Just, hit me with it," Dean insisted.
"Okay. The birth of Sam's child is one of the seals."
"You're kidding," Dean frowned.
"I am afraid not," Castiel shook his head.
"How are we supposed to stop something we can't even see?" Dean demanded, "and while we're on the subject, if this is a seal, is Lilith the one trying to kill me over again or what?"
"No, it's not Lilith," Castiel's head lowered, "it's not even a demon. Just someone who himself is... interested in the birth for his own means."
"You mean it's a human doing this?" Dean looked as shocked as he felt.
Castiel nodded.
"But one with power."
"Mutant then," Dean shrugged.
"Yes."
"So where do I find the son of a bitch?"
"I am sorry, I know nothing more. We've been in the field too long and this is the first chance I have had to communicate with you."
"Great, so we're back to square one," Dean sighed, "can you at least tell me where the hell I am?"
Faith
"Danger afoot? Hmm, must be Thursday," Faith muttered to herself.
She got ready to back Sam up if he needed it.
Sam
"No kidding," Sam breathed, inching closer.
He took a peek around the door, and reached through to turn the light on. Confused, he stepped into the room, seeing no signs of struggle or even that Dean had been there.
"This is odd," he said, going over to his bag, "nothing's missing, so it wasn't robbery."
Faith
"Not to be the reminder of bad moments, but remember when I drowned? When Dean almost drowned? That was someone's idea of fun, not for robbery."
Faith shrugged.
"It could be the same kind of situation."
Sam
Sam turned his head to stare at her.
"What made you jump to that conclusion?"
Faith
Faith shrugged.
"Not a robbery, so if this is a suss sitch, it really wouldn't surprise me, not with all that's happened lately."
Dean & Sam
"Oh you thought that too?" Dean said sarcastically as he walked in behind them.
"Dean?" Sam frowned, seeing him still half covered in dirt.
Faith
Faith turned and her eyes swept over Dean's body.
"Not to change the subject, but you look kinda sexy when you're dirty," she commented. "Anyway, what happened?"
Dean & Sam
"I know," Dean winked at her, walking in the room and taking off his button up shirt to throw into the bathroom.
"Uh... long story short, six feet under. Again. Sort of."
Sam frowned, watching him.
"Huh?"
Faith
Faith watched him and raised an eyebrow in appraisal, then glanced at Sam.
"Cool. So, you think it's the same kid from before?"
Sam & Dean
"Wait, you were buried alive?" Sam frowned.
"We've skipped that part of the story Sam, keep up. And yeah, I know it was him. He drugged me somehow and next thing I knew, I was in a fancy coffin. And when I say fancy, I mean fancy. I wouldn't have minded it if I'd been, you know, dead."
Faith
"So obviously, it was a planned in advance type of thing," Faith commented. "Because I don't know many people who have coffins on hand."
She paused.
"Although I did used to run with this guy who... nevermind. So, you remember anything else? Making it back here? Hit over the head?"
Dean & Sam
"Don't remember the assault, if there was one. But Cas helped me out and we weren't far from here, so," Dean shrugged.
"Castiel?" Sam frowned again.
"We'll talk later. But yeah, I'd say it was pre-meditated. Big time. This guy's hell bent on that spawn of yours coming into the world."
"Dean, if it's a demon-"
"It's not," Dean cut in, "he's a mutant."
Faith
"So, we're sure on that fact now?" Faith asked.
She rubbed her neck absently, thinking.
"Alright, well, I'm going to head to New York and talk to the mutants I know there. See if they have anything useful."
Dean & Sam
"Hundred percent, mutant," Dean nodded, rolling his black shirt up his chest and taking it off.
"Cas told me."
"Cas tell you anything else we should know?" Sam folded his arms haughtily.
"Later," Dean waved him off.
Faith
"You guys can do the brotherly chat thing, if you want," Faith offered, reaching for her cell phone. "I'm going to hit up Xavier for a ride."
She paused, considering.
"Well, he is one of the only ones over there that I haven't ridden, but anyway. I'll look into getting teleported over there tonight and I'll see what I can find out."
Dean & Sam
Dean's eyebrow rose at her riding statement, then he smirked to himself as Sam folded his arms.
"Want me to come with?" Sam offered.
Faith
"It's up to you," Faith said to Sam. "If you're curious about mutants. Or my previous fu - friends."
She caught Dean's eye for a second, before scrolling through her cell phone.
Sam & Dean
"Yeah, I am actually. Curious, I mean," Sam nodded.
Dean snorted shortly, then nodded.
"I'll man the car. Might head back to Bobby's. Just call me before you come looking."
Faith
Faith lifted the phone to her ear, waiting for someone to answer at the mansion while she went to pack her things.
"Hi Ro, it's Faith," she greeted, pausing for his answer before returning with "teleporter about?"
After a brief conversation, she hung up and turned to Sam.
"Someone is coming for us."
