Tru opened her eyes, blinking in the bright morning sun. She reached over to turn the alarm off, her hand knocking the photo frame beside her bed, sending it crashing to the floor. The glass shattered and Tru shot up, feeling the distinct feeling of deja vu.
Another smash from the kitchen and her eyes widened.
"It's ok!" Liam called out. "I've got it."
Tru jumped out of bed, almost cutting her feet on the glass and she went into the kitchen.
"Morning," Liam greeted pleasantly.
"Morning," she replied, flicking the tv onto the news channel. "It's the third?"
Liam glanced over at her. "Yeah, why?"
"No, it can't be..." she said softly. "It was the third yester..."
She fell silent, rubbing her neck as she thought about what she had seen the day before. Or was it a dream?
"Hey, your mom called earlier," Liam told her. "Just checking in."
"No, she... what?"
"Abut half an hour ago," he went on. "She said she's about to train, so not to call her for an hour or so."
Tru breathed deeply, her mind ticking over as to what this could mean, before she scrambled for the phone.
"She said - "
"I need to talk to Sam," she replied, dialling in a number.
Sam
Sam was waiting patiently in the impala at a gas station when his phone rang.
"This is Sam," he answered expectantly.
Tru
"Sam, it's Tru... we need to talk."
Tru was pacing across the floor of her study.
Sam
Sam frowned, her tone making him sit up.
"What's wrong?" he asked.
Tru
"Something happened... or is going to happen to Mom," Tru replied, shaking her head slightly, as if that would clear it.
"She's not with you, is she?"
Sam & Dean
"No, she's not," Sam looked up as Dean returned to the car with his hands full of junk food.
"We just hit the road again, but we're still in California. What do you think's gonna happen? What do you mean?"
Tru
"I had... I don't know, something happened. And she was there, and she was dead. And she turned to me and asked for help and then suddenly, it's today again!"
Tru rubbed the bridge of her nose.
"I know it sounds crazy, but I think my day is repeating. And I think I have to stop Mom from dying."
Sam & Dean
Sam's eyebrows rose, recounting his similar experience. As Dean got in and went to start up the car, Sam stopped him.
"Where are you?" he asked.
Tru
"I'm at my place," Tru replied.
"But you go to Mom. I'll meet you there."
Sam & Dean
"Ok," Sam agreed, "we can be there in two hours."
He hung up and looked at Dean, who was staring at him expectantly.
"We're going back," he announced.
Dean's eyebrows rose.
"What?"
Tru
Tru paced across the floor as she replayed the day before (or today... whatever) over and over. She let her mind tick over every single detail, however insignficant it had seemed.
A cut across Faith's hairline had been the only visible injury, they had never made it to autopsy stage. That couldn't've killed her. It wasn't deep enough. Wasn't long enough.
She must be missing something.
Sam & Dean
Sam stepped into the foyer of W&H with Dean right behind, immediately heading for the gym where Faith spent most of her downtime. Dean veered off to try and find Spike, thinking he might as well make the most of his return visit.
When Sam found Faith, he breathed a sigh of relief.
"Hey you," he smiled, almost awkwardly.
Faith, Spike and Tru
Faith turned at the sound of Sam's voice and she smiled, half confused, the other half genuinely happy.
"Hey cutie," she greeted, reaching out for him with one hand.
~*~*~*~
"Shit, Tru, you know this isn't my deal," Spike was saying, looking up at the young girl. "I'll help, but I don't know what I can do."
Tru was still chewing nervously on her lip. "I know. But thank you."
Spike glanced up towards the door and chuckled. "Kiwi."
Sam & Dean
Sam took it and pulled her in for a kiss.
"We're supposed to be half a state away by now," he chuckled into the kiss.
~*~
"Hey, how's it going?" Dean asked, still not entirely sure what he was doing there.
"Got some time to head to the bar?"
Faith, Tru and Spike
Faith grinned and kissed him back, wrapping her arms around his neck.
"Aww, you missed me that much?"
~*~*~*~
Tru turned and saw Dean, then rubbed her neck, figuring Sam would have gone straight to Faith.
"For you, Kiwi? Always." Spike glanced at Tru, as if he were asking her permission.
"Go," Tru said to him.
"Call if anything comes up," he told her. He pressed a short kiss against her forehead, then held his hand out to Dean, ready for their handshake.
Sam & Dean
"Am I that transparent?" Sam joked before stepping back a little.
"Tru called. She was worried about you."
~*~
Dean complied with the handshake, then broke into chuckles.
"Let's go," he led the way out.
Faith and Tru
"Tru's here?" Faith looked surprised as she glanced up at Sam.
"I wonder if she's engaged yet... wait, she's worried?"
~*~*~*~
Tru was on her way to the gym.
Sam
"Yeah, I think she had a nightmare or something. Or she said she was going to meet me here," Sam shrugged.
"She thinks something's going to happen to you today."
Faith and Tru
"Well, it's not a normal day if I'm not being threatened," Faith said, dimpling up at Sam.
Tru opened the door to the gym and smiled in relief, at the sight of her mother.
"Mom!" she said, almost collapsing into Faith's arms.
"Hey baby," Faith replied, rubbing her back. "Now, what... what's going on here?"
Sam
Sam took a step back to let them have mother/daughter time, vaguely noticing a slight headache coming on.
Tru and Faith
"I just... my day is repeating. You died today. Yesterday. Well, today," Tru rushed out.
Faith raised an eyebrow. "That made sense somewhere, I'm sure..."
"You died," Tru continued. "And I was in the room with you, and you were dead and you turned to me and asked for help and then I wake up and - "
"So it was a dream?"
"No! At least, I'm pretty sure it wasn't..."
Sam
Sam turned and quickly left the room, taking a moment to again ponder the Trickster's last prank on him, before grabbing at his head in pain. He grunted a little at the intensity, before it subsided again.
Taking a deep breath, he leant against the outside of the door for a moment.
Faith and Tru
"And you really think this is going to happen?" Faith asked.
"I do," Tru replied. "Mom, I wouldn't have called Sam back if I didn't think it was."
Faith nodded, then turned, noticing Sam was gone.
"Alright, well let's sit down and you can tell me how I died."
Sam
Sam cringed as the headache came again, and slammed his forehead into the wall...
Dark shadows. Streetlight. Faith, patrolling.
Sam's eyes opened and he took a deep breath, before cringing again.
Shadows. Streetlight. Faith, patrolling. A figure. A blade. A glint...
"Oh come on!" Sam hit the wall with his hand, "give me more!"
Faith and Tru
Faith looked towards the door at the sound of something hitting the wall, and she jogged over, Tru following behind her carefully.
"Sam?"
Sam
Sam took a few deep breaths, panicked that it was all he was going to get, before the pain hit him again.
Faith. Streetlight. Alleyway. Blade. Feet, running. Faith turns... the blade pierces her chest. A store sig in the background...
Sam's fist hit the wall and he turned his back to lean against it, trying to remember the name on the sign he'd seen.
Faith and Tru
Faith opened the doorway and went to help Sam.
Tru stood silently, rubbing her chin as her mind whirled through the information she already knew.
Sam
"I'm sorry," Sam said, breathless as he held an arm out to stop her.
"But Tru's right. Something is gonna happen."
Tru and Faith
"You saw?" Tru asked, her attention on Sam completely. "What happened? I didn't... I only saw the end result..."
Faith looked between the pair of them.
"This is unnerving."
Sam
"Just..." Sam put his hands on her shoulders, "don't patrol tonight. Then everything should be fine."
He didn't even look at Tru, refusing to tell her of the visual.
Tru and Faith
"You think it's that easy?" Tru said, looking at Sam.
"Both of you think that I'm going to die?" Faith asked, glancing between the two again. "I'll be fine, but if it makes you feel better, I'll come back on the road, Samwise. I don't have to patrol and hold down the fort here."
Sam
"Great!" Sam allowed himself to smile.
"That should solve it. I think. But just, don't go anywhere on your own tonight, ok?"
Tru and Faith
"But Mom, what if - " Tru started.
Faith held her hand up. "It's ok, kiddo. I'll be with Sam."
Sam & Dean
Sam nodded, hoping that would be enough to not make Tru worry, befoe hearing footsteps down the hall.
"Dude! What's taking so long? I thought you just wanted a quickie... oh hey Faith. Tru. What's new?"
Dean was with them by the time he finished talking, and chuckled at the short rhyme.
Tru and Faith
"Mom, I - " Tru started again, reaching out to grab Faith's shoulder, her engagement ring glinting in the light.
"Stop worrying," Faith said, kissing her daughter on the forehead. "And tell me about the whole... Liam marriage thing."
"Mom, it's not important right now - "
Sam & Dean
"Dean-" Sam pulled him over to the side a little, "Faith's coming back on the road with us."
"What? Damn..."
"Huh?" Sam frowned.
"Well with the- nevermind. Why?"
"I had a vision," Sam stared him down.
"What?"
"I had a vision and I saw Faith die. Tonight. So she's coming back with us."
"Sammy, how many times have I told you..."
"Dean, seriousy. You're not going to berrate me for something I can't control."
Dean rolled his eyes and rubbed his chin.
"Ok. Fine," he stepped back.
Tru and Faith
"Promise you won't go out tonight, Mom, promise me," Tru demanded.
Faith nodded, taking a short step back. "I'll be a good little girl and stay in, darning Dean's socks and whatnot."
"Don't make fun of me, Mom," Tru warned, voice slightly shakey. "Because you didn't see what I saw. So you better not break that promise. And if you do, and if you die, I'll hate you forever."
"Ok." Faith reached out for her daughter. "I promise. Sam will make sure I'm alright, I promise that too."
Sam & Dean
"And I promise," Sam insisted.
"And I promise. What are we promising? Nevermind, can we go now?"
Faith and Tru
"Alright, I just need to grab some stuff," Faith said, glancing up at Sam.
Tru nodded, then glanced at her watch. "If you're sure you can handle it...? I have a piano lesson that I would like to try and make, but..."
"Go," Faith said to her daughter. "I'll call you tomorrow. When I'm alive."
"Thank you." Tru hugged her mother gently. "You better. Or hatred abounds."
She glanced at Sam. "Thanks to you, also."
Sam & Dean
"Don't mention it," Sam shrugged it off, beginning to walk Faith down the corridor.
"Awesome. I'll start the car."
Faith and Tru
Faith leaned into Sam as they walked towards her room to collect her duffel.
Tru nodded slightly at Dean, then turned to leave.
