Hey Pops

Written by Nessa and Michelle

Tru

Tru's finger hovered above the phone for a second, while she flipped through her address book to get Zac's number.

After a second, she had dialled the number and was waiting patiently for her father to answer the call.

Zac

Zac absently picked up the ringing phone, intent on his study of the data on the computer screen.

"Yo?"

Tru

"Gee, hi Dad," Tru grinned.

She twirled the phone cord around her fingers.

Zac

"Oh hey Tru," Zac replied cheerfully, tearing his eyes away from the screen. "How's things?"

Tru

"Pretty good, can't complain."

Tru grinned faintly.

"Busy with school, still can't cook, you know, the usual. Oh! But I'm taking music lessons. I thought you'd like to know."

Zac

Zac chuckled.

"Hey that's awesome," he said. "Any particular instrument?"

Tru

"Piano," Tru nodded.

"I figured I should use the piano in the apartment."

Zac

"Sound logical to me," Zac replied. "Saves buying another instrument."

He absently pulled out a nearby notebook and pen and started doodling.

Tru

"Yeah, and if you can't play piano very well, it doesn't sound as awful as a violin would," Tru reasoned out.

"Oh! And I'm engaged."

Zac

"This is true," Zac nodded. "Oh hey congratulations! When did this happen?"

Yes... act susprised like you didn't see it coming.

Tru

"Yesterday, actually," Tru said, grinning.

"You're actually the first person I've told."

Zac

"Me?" Zac asked in genuine surprise. "Even before your mother? I feel privlaged."

He grinned.

Tru

"Well, you're my Daddy," Tru teased.

She rubbed her cheek absently.

"Mom's been sick, so I didn't want to take any focus off her at the moment. She's a little casual when it comes to her own health."

Zac

"She is?" Zac asked in surprise. "What's wrong?"

Faith sick?

Tru

Whoops...

Tru bit her lip.

"Yeah, we all really need to get better at this comunication thing... Mom's pregnant. About four months now..."

Zac

"Oh really?" Zac replied.

He paused for a moment, pondering it.

"Well, tell her I said congratulations," he said cheerfully.

Tru

"I'll pass that on," Tru replied, nodding. "Whenever I see her next."

She paused.

"So, what's new in Dadland?"

Zac

"Well, I'm kinda seeing someone," Zac admitted. "Her name's Kate, and she's awesome. I'm not even biased when I say that either."

He chuckled.

Tru

"Oh, I see," Tru mused. "So everyone in the world thinks she is awesome? Space Station too?"

She grinned.

Zac

"They would if they ever met her," Zac replied cheerfully. "I met her through Natalie. She's a model, although she's studying at the moment and all of a sudden this conversation has taken this weird turn because both my daughter and my girlfriend are at college."

Tru

"Dirty old man," Tru teased good naturedly.

"I'm looking forward to meeting her though."

Zac

Zac chuckled.

"Yeah, I'm sure you'll get along great. And speaking of significant others... this guy you're engaged to?"

Tru

Tru sighed, a smile apeparing on her face.

"Liam. He's really great, Dad."

Zac

Zac grinned.

"Well, I hope so. Otherwise I'd wonder why you agreed to marry him."

Tru

Tru snorted.

"Yeah yeah."

Zac

Zac chuckled.

"Okay, so tell me all about him."

Tru

"Well, you're going to be sorry you asked..." Tru joked, before launching into all the stories she had about Liam.
