Chicago?

Written by AiMsTeR and Nessa

Sam

As Sam stepped out of the diner, he pulled out his cell phone and dialled Faith's number. He'd been meaning to call her over the weekend, but had never quite found the free time.

Angel and Faith

"It's yours," Angel said, handing the ringing phone across to Faith.

She took it and slid it open, not bothering to check who was calling.

"'Lo?"

Sam

"Hey!" Sam greeted.

"Hope I'm not interrupting anything..."

Faith

"Oh hey," Faith said, her face brightening. She got up from the couch, and started to walk into the next room.

"Nah, nothing important. Angel is... making me watch a ballet dvd. I think he's torturing me."

Sam

"How rivetting," Sam chuckled as he walked down the street.

"So are you still in Chicago? I wasn't sure if it was ok to call if you were on a mission or something..."

Faith

Faith half closed the door to her room and sat down on the bed.

"Well, I wasn't in Chicago..."

Sam

Sam frowned.

"What are you talking about? We just ran into each other last week."

Faith

"Did you hit your head?" Faith asked, furrowing her eyebrows in confusion.

"I was with Tru last week."

Sam

"No I know you were, I mean, I thought you were, but we- hang on," Sam stopped and rubbed his head.

"You haven't been to Chicago at all in the past week?"

Faith

"Nope," Faith replied, shaking her head, although Sam couldn't see that.

"Haven't done much travelling at all, actually. Just to Tru's and then back here."

She paused.

"You saw me?"

Sam

"Well, yeah," Sam shrugged.

"Or at least, I thought I did. We did."

Faith

Faith frowned slightly.

"Are you sure she just wasn't... a short brunette with cleavage?"

Sam

"No definitely not," Sam insisted.

"She looked and talked exactly like you. I mean, she was even rude to Dean..."

Faith

"I'm not always rude to Dean," Faith argued, then paused.

"So... maybe I have a twin. Cool."

Sam

"Apparently," Sam frowned, still confused.

"Maybe we should go to Chicago and check it out one day. Hey, how have you been anyway? How was it staying at Tru's?"

Faith

"Thought she was hot, didn't you?" Faith teased.

"Good, I managed to teach them how to boil water without starting a fire."

Sam

"Of course I thought she was hot, and let me straight away point out that I'm talking about your double and not Tru," Sam defended.

"I did pick up some books for her in South Dakota by the way. I'll hand them over when we get back."

Faith

"You don't think Tru is attractive?" Faith joked.

She scratched her neck absently.

"Oh awesome, thanks. Trust me, they need them. I'm still tasting charcoal from the second failed attempt at meatloaf. Which Tru maintains was brisket."

Sam

"Sounds dire," Sam did his best to sound concerned.

"ANd I will try and get back as soon as we can, but this demon thing just turned out to be more involved than we thought it would be and... you know how it is."

Faith

"Hey, that's ok," Faith reassured.

"I'm actually kinda digging the alone time. I've been walking around naked without worrying someone is going to walk in."

Sam

"Namely Dean?" Sam mused.

Faith

"Yeah, and you, you big perve."

Faith grinned slightly.

"Also helped Gunn score a date, so I feel like I've been useful."

Sam

"So it did work out for him," Sam nodded.

"And hey, it's not like you've got anything Dean and I haven't seen already."

Faith

"True, unless I go out and get myself a naughty piercing," Faith said, nodding.

"Then that would be something you haven't seen on me. Or another tattoo."

Sam

"Hey, maybe that'll help with the baby problem," Sam smirked.

"Getting a tatt could poison it or something."

Faith

"Mmm," Faith mused.

"Tru and I have been discussing getting tatts together. She feels it would be a bonding experience."

Sam

"There you go," Sam agreed, "sounds good."

Faith

"Yeah, she's also banned me from getting any form of S on my body," Faith grinned.

"Seems to think I like you enough to get your initials tattooed on me."

Sam

"Should I be worried?" Sam chuckled.

"Because you know you can't expect any reciprocation on my part. The pentagram was a one off."

Faith

"Well, I don't like you enough to get your initials tattooed on my body," Faith grinned.

Sam

"I'm glad," Sam assured.

"S/W wouldn't make for great artwork anyway. Maybe you shoud get Tru's?"

Faith

"Nah, I think I'm fine with only one. I might take Tru to get one though."

Faith shrugged.

Sam

"Fine, be that way," Sam teased.

Faith

Faith grinned and shook her head slightly.

"It takes me awhile to design my tatts anyway," she told him. "So chances are, by the time I was happy with it, I would have given birth."

Sam

"There goes that idea," Sam sighed.

"Ok. So. This twin of yours. Any worry? Should we check her out before we come back? And by... 'checking out'... I mean background check. You know."

Faith

"Well, maybe, but she could be clean."

Faith shrugged.

"I can get Angel and co on it, but she hasn't appeared on the news or anything, so if she is dodgy, she's not getting caught."

Sam

"Obviously she hasn't been picked up by any authorities for looking like you, so I'd have to agree," Sam shrugged.

"She almost looked like a lawyer herself. You know, dress suit, glasses, hair in a bun... it was so weird."

Faith

"Wow, she's the smart one," Faith frowned.

"What did I get then?"

Sam

"The brawn, duh," Sam chuckled.

Faith

"Hey!" Faith protested.

"With twins, one is usually better looking. And yet, you didn't say I got the beauty?"

Sam

"Brawn is pretty?" Sam pathetically amended.

"And hey, if I preferred her to you, I wouldn't be calling you now would I?"

Faith

"True, she's probably not as flexible either."

Faith grinned faintly.

"Yeah, I say let her go about it. I'm curious to see her though. But... not when Dean is around, as I imagine there will be lots of twincest talk."

Sam

"I'm sure there would be," Sam agreed.

"And speaking of Dean, his lunch is getting cold. I'll call you again next week?"

Faith

"Sounds good, I have some fencing to do."

Faith rubbed her eyes.

"See ya, handsome."

Sam

"Take care. Love you," Sam smiled.

He hung up just as he made it back to the motel.

Faith

"Love you too."

Faith hung up and went back out to whine about watching ballet.
