Faith turned away from the counter, nursing a tall cup of tea, her eyes resting on a familiar - albeit rumpled - man sitting in a booth. She walked over and slid into the seat across from him.
"You need sleep," she observed.
Gunn looked up sleepily. "I know. I've been working all night."
"Ouch."
"Yeah," Gunn agreed. "So, where's your shadow?"
Faith grinned. "If you mean Sam, then he should be meeting me here."
"Not joined at the hip today?" Gunn yawned.
Sam
Sam stepped through the doors and looked around until he spotted Faith. Seeing her with Gunn he hesitated, before nodding and heading to the counter to make an order.
Gunn and Faith
"Seriously, is there a magnet?" Gunn joked, before yawning again.
"Go get some sleep," Faith told him, ignoring his comment. "You look terrible."
"Can't," Gunn said, shaking his head. "I have court in a few hours."
"Then you can have a few hours nap," she pointed out. "Go. Now. Or I'll hurt you."
Gunn laughed sleepily, then started to pack his casefiles up.
Sam
Sam made his way over just as Gunn was leaving.
"Hey," he smiled to him, sitting on the other side of Faith.
Gunn and Faith
"Hey," Gunn greeted, before his face broke out into a yawn. "Sorry."
"Go get some sleep," Faith told him. "And good luck."
"Thanks," he replied. "See you later, guys."
Sam
"See you," Sam nodded, tipping his coffee toward him before taking a sip.
He sighed when he put the cup down.
"So Bobby called. He has a lead on some demons in Ohio..."
Faith
Faith sipped at her tea quietly.
"I was actually having some thoughts about that..."
She took another sip of her tea.
"I kinda realised this morning how exhausted I am. So I was thinking of maybe... staying here."
Sam
"You? Exhausted?" Sam said disbelievingly.
"Maybe the baby is taking a lot out of you..."
Faith
"Yeah, it was a bit of a struggle to get out of bed this morning," Faith said, shrugging.
"See? The eyes. Bloodshot. Nice."
Sam
"Maybe you should just stay here until its born then?" Sam suggested in a soft tone.
Faith
"Yeah, I was thinking for a little bit, at least," Faith said, rubbing her eyes again.
"Angel's suggested a Wolfram and Hart funded trip to somewhere tropical, so I might take him up on that."
Sam
"Normally I'd say it might not be a good idea with the pregnancy, but seeing as neither of us want it..." Sam pulled a face.
Faith
"Mmm, I'm ok with dying somewhere sunny," Faith said, nodding.
"Not in the cold though."
Sam
"Don't talk like that," Sam insisted, drinking more of his coffee.
Faith
Faith flipped her hair out of her eyes, and reached for her tea again.
"So, yeah, I might stay here for a bit, maybe with Tru."
Sam
"That sounds great," Sam insisted trying not to sound too excited over the prospect.
"She mentioned you should take some time off, and it'd be a great opportunity for you to spend more time with her." P>
Faith
"Yeah," Faith said dryly. "I'm kind of sick of you too."
She fiddled absently with her tea cup.
Sam
"I'm sorry, that was too enthusiastic," Sam chuckled.
Faith
"Just a little," Faith said, smirking.
"Already planning on big nights with random girls?"
Sam
"You know me too well," Sam said sarcastically.
Faith
Faith grinned. "Yeah."
She pulled him by the collar of his shirt over the table to kiss him lightly.
Sam
Sam grinned as he kissed her.
"That, I'm gonna miss."
Faith
"Oh, just that?" Faith asked coyly.
She grinned faintly.
Sam
"Your body and its actions as a whole?" Sam suggested.
"Minus the demon spawn?"
Faith
"You're just full of compliments this morning," Faith teased.
She let go of his shirt, and leaned back in the booth chair.
Sam
"I know, it's an art," Sam mused, finishing off his coffee.
He sighed and pushed it to the middle of the table.
"Dean wants to leave tonight, so... I guess we've got half a day left of each other."
Faith
"Well, that works out, because I have a fake date with Gunn tonight," Faith shrugged.
"So, what do you want to do?"
Sam
"Gee, thanks," Sam smirked.
"I don't know. I guess you're too exhausted to have some last minute fun."
He smiled teasingly.
Faith
Faith laughed.
"No, I do. I'm part of some elaborate plan for Gunn to snaffle his lady friend. I'm just there to make her jealous."
She let her foot play with Sam's under the table.
"Yeah, maybe I am," she teased. "Maybe you'll have to do it yourself."
Sam
"Bummer," Sam grinned.
"But hey, it's no trouble. We can always make up for it when I get back. If you haven't taken off with Gunn in the meantime, that is..."
Faith
"Yeah, I have a thing for lawyers," Faith grinned.
She reached across for Sam's shirt again and brushed her lips against his.
"Come on, loserface."
Sam
"Come on where, stupid?" Sam teased.
Faith
"Well, if we only have half a day left, and I'm tired, we should, logically, be sleeping together."
Faith grinned, standing up from the booth.
Sam
"That's very logical," Sam agreed with a nod.
He stood with her and wrapped an arm around her shoulders, leaning in to kiss her forehead.
"Yours or mine? Yours I take it."
Faith
"Mine has soundproofed walls," Faith grinned.
She rested against him for a moment, content, before starting for the door.
