Deep and Meaningfuls

Written by Nessa and AiMsTeR

Tru

Tru watched Faith and Dean outside, packing the car and either flirting or arguing. It was hard to tell from the body language.

She heard Sam come in behind her and she turned, smiling.

"So, you're off?"

Sam

"Yeah, on the road again," Sam shrugged, fetching a duffel from the doorway.

Tru

"I miss her sometimes," Tru said absently, glancing out at her mother again.

"She makes everything seem better for me. Puts it in perspective, I guess."

Sam

"We're only ever a call away," Sam shrugged, walking over and standing beside her.

"And you know... family is always more important than anything we've ever done. So, if you ever need us..."

Tru

"Yeah, I know," Tru said, looking over at him.

She was quiet for a moment.

"Mom and I... sometimes I can see what she dreams. It's a Slayer thing. And probably a family thing. But... she's sad, Sam. Sometimes she's really sad."

Tru

"Yeah, I know," Tru said, looking over at him.

She was quiet for a moment.

"Mom and I... sometimes I can see what she dreams. It's a Slayer thing. And probably a family thing. But... she's sad, Sam. Sometimes she's really sad."

Sam

"Of coure she is," Sam nodded.

"We all are. It comes with the territory."

Tru

"No," Tru said softly. "About Lia."

She refused to look at Sam for that comment, instead still watching outside.

"Sometimes I wish Mom was normal. That we lived a normal life. Away from all of this."

Sam

"I know," Sam nodded.

He hesitated, unsure of what he should share.

"I lost Dean, last year," he finally admitted.

"So I know how much it hurts. What it can do to you."

Tru

Tru nodded, one hand against the window pane.

"I understand running away," she said softly. "I guess I kinda did. I ran from LA to here. Not a huge run, but still..."

She was quiet again.

"I wanted to hate you, you know. I really wanted to. Because it hurts too much to lose people."

Sam

Sam frowned a little.

"What do you mean?" he asked, confused already.

Tru

"After Lia," Tru started. "I wanted to hate you and everyone who wasn't family."

She rubbed her cheek absently.

"Because I don't want to go through what we went through with Lia. I don't want to lose someone I care about again. And I know it's life, but... I just... I didn't want someone to walk away. I didn't want to be abandoned."

Sam

Sam nodded, thoughtfully.

"I'm glad that phase is over," he said softly, "because you know we'd never do that. Travelling is just our job, it's nothing personal."

Tru

"I know," Tru replied, shrugging.

"It's just hard, especially having a mom like... well, mom."

Sam

Sam nodded, thinking of how reckless his Dad had been whenever he'd gotten a sniff of Azazel.

"Yeah, I know."

Tru

Tru rubbed her nose as she thought.

"Everything's good though, right?"

Sam

Sam raised an eyebrow, amused.

"You wouldn't want me to lie now, would you?" he teased.

Tru

Tru shook her head.

"That sounds reassuring."

Sam

"You know what it's like out there," Sam shrugged.

"I'm not tell you it's all apple pie and candy canes when you know it's dangerous work."

Tru

"I know," Tru replied.

"But with Mom being pregnant and everything... shouldn't she not be on the road?"

Sam

"Are you gonna tell her that she can't go?" Sam smiled faintly.

"Because believe me, I've tried. A lot."

Tru

"I don't know," Tru said, glancing his way.

"Maybe if she talks to Angel, he can convince her to stay still. She always listens to him."

Sam

"I'm pretty sure he's tried too," Sam shrugged.

Tru

Tru was quiet for a long moment.

"Fine then," she said, turning back to the window.

Sam

"See you next time," Sam nodded, picking his bag up again and walking through the door.

Tru

"See ya."

Tru watched stoicly out the window.
