Eavesdropping

Written by Nessa and AiMsTeR

Faith and Tru

Faith and Tru sat together on the couch in the living room, both nursing mugs of hot chocolate. They'd been talking all night, while Sam and Dean slept in the spare rooms of Tru's apartment.

"So, how is it?" Faith asked, yawning slightly.

"Really good," Tru said, holding the mug with two hands as she repositioned herself. "Tiring, but I feel like this is where I'm meant to be right now."

"I'm glad to hear that, honey." Faith reached across and tucked some hair behind Tru's ear.

The pair sat in comfortable silence for a long moment, both looking through the window, watching the sun start to rise.

"Mom?" Tru said after a second.

"Yeah?" Faith looked over at her.

"Do you really have to... can you break up with Sam?"

Sam

Sam was heading to the kitchen when he heard the last part of the girls' conversation. Eyebrows raising, he paused inside the doorway to listen.

Faith and Tru

"Why?" Faith questioned.

"Because it's weird," Tru replied, shrugging. "You can't be with him."

"Do you not like him?" she asked.

"No, that's the problem!"

Sam

Sam frowned a little, confused, as he leant against the wall.

Tru and Faith

"Don't you see how weird it is?" Tru asked.

"Ok, you've lost me," Faith replied. "So, you don't like Sam?"

"No, I do, but that's why you have to break up with him," Tru told her.

"Ok, again, still lost," Faith said.

"He's like my brother, Mom. You can't date my brother."

Sam

Sam stifled his laughter, afraid he might be heard.

Faith and Tru

"Your brother?" Faith repeated.

"Yes," Tru replied, deadly serious. "It would be like you sleeping with Saku."

"No, it wouldn't," Faith told her. "One, Saku is only your half brother, and two, Sam's not my son."

"I know, but Mom!" Tru protested. "It's too weird for me. So no. You can't ever marry him. In fact, you should probably break up with him today. Do you want to leave me scarred for life?"

"Because it would scar you for me to date someone completely not related to you."

"Naturally," Tru sat back in her chair.

"Your logic does not resemble our Earth logic."

"I love Sam like he was my brother. End of story."

Sam

"You do realise she's carrying my child, right?" Sam pointed out, moving around so he was leaning casually in the doorway with his arms folded.

Tru and Faith

"How long have you been there?" Tru asked, looking at the doorway.

Faith grinned.

Sam

"Not long," Sam mused, shaking some hair from his eyes.

"Point still standing though..."

Tru and Faith

"Yeah, but it's still weird," Tru said, shrugging. "That's just the way I feel."

Faith looked over at Sam, reaching her hand out for him.

Sam

Sam walked over and leant in to kiss Faith's cheek.

Tru and Faith

"See, this is what I mean," Tru said, wrinkling her nose. "You guys have to break up."

Faith grinned.

Sam

"I don't know about you," Sam looked down at Faith as he walked around behind her and slid his arms over her shoulders, "but I don't see it on the cards any time soon."

He smiled at Tru teasingly.

Faith and Tru

Faith smiled up at Sam, rubbing one of his hands with hers gently.

"Fine, I'll just be in counselling for the rest of my life!" Tru said dramatically.

"Yes, and your therapist can probably explain to you that this," Faith said, indicating herself and Sam with a grin. "is not a crime."

Sam

"And is also not incestuous," Sam added with a nod.

Tru

"It still feels wrong for me," Tru pointed out.

"So just... don't get married."

Sam

"You think with our lifestyle we'd have any time to?" Sam scoffed.

Faith and Tru

"Eh, I wasn't good at marriage anyway," Faith said, waving her hand.

Tru glanced at Sam.

Sam

"Neither was I," Sam sighed, face falling suddenly.

Faith and Tru

Faith frowned slightly, looking up at Sam. She brought his hand to her lips and kissed it gently.

"Well, I guess this works out for me," Tru said, trying to keep it light.

Sam

"I guess it does," Sam said thoughtfully.

He gave Faith another kiss and stood up again.

"Anyone else want the pleasure of waking Dean up?" he asked, heading back for the door.

Faith and Tru

"No, whenever I do it, he usually tries to pull me into bed with him," Faith called to him.

"See, Dean, I don't think of as a brother," Tru said. "You could date Dean."

"There are a million reasons as to why I don't though," Faith replied.

Sam

"Which I'm sure Tru will work out eventually," Sam smirked, before going to wake up his brother.
