Faith carefully climbed through the open window, then ducked below the sill as the headlights passed over the glass. She breathed evenly, eyes adjusting to the dark room.
She could hear the steady breathing of the steady occupants in the room above her, and she sighed softly, glad she hadn't woken them.
After waiting a few more minutes to make certain the car following her was gone, she peered back out the window. Definite, she climbed carefully back out into the lawn, and jogged across the garden to the road.
The vibrating of her cell phone startled her for a second, and she ducked around the corner into a side street to answer it.
"Find anything?" Gunn asked.
"No," Faith replied, shaking her head. "Though things got a little hairy just before. Not popular in the demon bars. How about you? You guys find anything?"
"Nothing," Gunn told her. "No new players have come to town, so your guess is as good as ours."
"I'm coming back in now," she said. "We'll start the search again at first light."
"Do you need me to send someone?"
"Nah," she replied. "I'm close by."
"See you in a few."
Faith hung up and slid her phone back into the pocket. She pulled her jacket tighter around her body and started back for Wolfram and Hart.
