I Lost It

Written by Nessa

Lorne and Angel

Lorne lingered outside the door of Angel's office, and though the logical part of his brain knew that Angel could tell he was there, the other part was reassuring him that he was nearly invisible and could back out at anytime he wanted.

Angel, for his part, was watching the door, waiting for Lorne to work up the courage to come in and talk to him about whatever was on his mind.

After ten minutes, Lorne finally made up his mind, and pushed open the doors. He closed them behind him, before walking over to the desk and sitting down across from Angel.

"I lost it," the demon said, finally looking up.

"Yesterday," Angel stated.

Lorne nodded. "Yes. Yesterday."

"What happened?"

Lorne looked away again. "You didn't hear what I heard when Lindsey sang. You didn't see how empty Faith was like that. And even when she sings for me normally... you don't see what I see, Angelcakes. You don't see what she has been through. I lost it."

"It was personal," Angel said quietly.

"Of course it was," Lorne replied. "She's one of us, Angelwings, and Lindsey hurt her for fun. He didn't regret it at all. And you don't... you don't see what I see. So yes, it was personal. And it would've been personal for you too."

"I know," Angel nodded. "But I never wanted you to be the one to - "

"I lost it," Lorne shrugged.
