Horseback

Written by Nessa and AiMsTeR

Faith

Faith looked out the window as they drove into the ranch of the old man they were out here to interview.

"Ooh, horses," she commented.

Dean & Sam

"We're not staying," Dean insisted as he pulled up in front of the house.

He was first out of the car, Sam following close behind. They got their identities in order and Dean made his way up to the door.

Faith

Faith followed Sam, eyes scanning over the property casually.

She hung back slightly as they reached the door.

Dean & Sam

Sam took his place beside Dean as his brother knocked loudly.

"Mister Marshall?!" he yelled out.

Faith

Faith took a step back, looking around the old deck casually.

"No one home?"

Dean & Sam

Dean nodded to Sam who, taking the hint, stepped off the porch and headed around the right side of the house. Dean indicated for Faith to take the left as he drew his gun.

Faith

Faith stepped down off the last step of the porch and moved around to the left.

Dean & Sam

Dean gave them a moment once they were out of sight before kicking the door in.

He moved through to the livingroom and grimaced at the blood covering the walls, keeping an eye out for the bodies it had come from. He followed a particularly dark mark of blood through to the kitchen area, and soon spotted what he guessed used to be a torso on the kitchen table. Holding himself back from baulking he went back to the livingroom.

"Not what I expected," Sam's voice came as he walked in, looking around.

Faith

"Nice," Faith commented, appearing behind Sam.

"It's just not a good day until I see mutilated bodies."

Sam & Dean

"Haven't you mssed it?" Sam asked sarcastically before a dark shape suddenly hurled past them from the kitchen.

Dean cocked his gun and tore after it, out the front of the property.

"What the?" Sam frowned, running out after him.

Faith

Faith as right behind Sam, then overtook both boys as the man headed in the direction of the stables. She skidded to a stop, dodging out of the way and narrowly missing being run down by a horse.

She darted into the stables and mounted her own horse, following the old man.

Dean & Sam

Dean was by Faith's side, mounting a black stallion before darting out over the fields after the shadow.

Sam had stopped by the stable doors, watching.

"DEAN!" he yelled, trying to get his attention, "THE GUN WON'T WORK!"

Faith

Faith gave her horse another kick, a little behind Dean as they chased after the shadow.

Sam & Dean

Sam huffed a little, clenching his jaw for a moment before he decided. He weighed the consequences either way, but finally kicked out one of the back legs of both horses telekinetically, causing them to stumble before regaining their footing.

Dean snapped out of hunt mode and took those few seconds to realise what had gone wrong.

"DAMNIT!" he yelled in frustration.

Faith

"Whoa," Faith breathed, pulling her horse to a gentle stop after the stumble.

She turned the head of the horse, directing it to turn around.

Sam & Dean

"IT WON'T WORK!" Sam yelled out again now that they had a chance of hearing him.

Dean turned back with a frown.

"WHAT?!"

Faith

Faith brought her horse in the direction of Sam, and nudged it with her foot to get it at a steady trot across the field.

"So... new plan?"

Dean & Sam

Dean looked in the direction the monster had disappeared, cursed, then turned and rode the horse back. He pulled up at Sam's side.

"What did you say?" he demanded.

"Guys, it wouldn't have worked," Sam inisted.

"Why not?" Dean frowned.

"It was a wendigo," Sam sighed.

Dean looked back over the field and took a deep breath.

"Fine. Then we're barbequeing tonight."

Faith

Faith pulled up beside Dean, then, holding the reigns in one hand, slid off the side of the horse, giving it a friendly pat on the nose.

"Alright, well, I'm going to take this one back to the stable."

Dean & Sam

"Yeah, this one too," Dean looked as if he'd only just realised he was on a horse.

He led the stallion down a nearby path, back toward the stable, with Sam in tow.
