"You're not afraid," Edward commented, as he drove down the highway at a speed that would make most people nervous.
"No," Faith replied, glancing at him. "Is there any reason I should be?"
"I suppose not," he said. "Although, most people would be fairly nervous about walking into a den of vampires."
"Most people aren't Slayers," she countered.
"True."
They drove along in silence for awhile, until Faith broke it by asking a question.
"How old are you?"
"Twenty," Edward replied.
"And how long have you been twenty?" she asked.
His lips twitched into a slight smirk. "Awhile."
He soon turned off onto an almost concealed pathway into the forest, driving along the narrow pathway and finally stopping at a beautiful old large house, in the centre of the clearing.
"Home," he said, turning the car off.
"Quaint," she replied.
They got out of the car, and he led her up the stairs to the front door.
"Lot of windows," she commented.
"One place we can be out in the sun without drawing attention," he told her. "I have mentioned - "
"Yeah," Faith replied. "The sparkling thing."
Edward smiled again, leading the way through the house, into the kitchen. They passed a large frame filled with different coloured graduation caps, and Faith quirked an eyebrow at it.
"Private joke," he explained. "We matriculate a lot."
"I see."
The pair of them came into the kitchen, where the rest of the family were waiting. Most of them looked warmly at the Slayer, while one blonde, sat at the end of the table, eyeing Faith carefully.
"Carlisle," Edward said, addressing a young looking man who stood up. "This is Faith."
"I'm glad you have come," Carlisle said to her, and she nodded. "Alice was not certain."
Faith raised her eyebrows while Alice giggled and Carlisle shook his head.
"Forgive me," he apologised. "I trust Edward has not told you of their powers?"
"Not exactly," Faith replied.
"Edward is telepathic, while Alice has premonitions of the future, only once a firm decision has been made," Carlisle explained, as Edward took a seat beside Emmett. "Please, sit down."
Faith walked over to the empty seat he was gesturing at, and sat down next to Alice, who beamed at her.
"We appreciate you coming here," Carlisle nodded. "With your help, I am certain we can win against these newborns."
"Why exactly do you need me?"
And so, for the next couple of hours, Carlisle and his family explained why they needed Faith and why they wanted to join her fight against their own kind.
