"This is because my college isn't insane," Amber nodded.
Saku grinned at her.
"Or because a BA is a wussy degree."
Amber gave him a good-natured whack over the shoulder.
"And what degree are you going to come out with, huh?"
"Master, of course," Saku replied cheerfully.
"What?" Amber asked mockingly. "No fancy title to make up for having tests every two days?"
"They're not that often," Saku replied. "And most titles are fairly meaninglyess amongst the magical elite anyway. Mostly because lesser magicians assume titles they don't really deserve. With the possible exception of Archmage. Mostly because if you go around tell people you're an Archmage, a real Archmage comes along and kicks your ass."
Amber laughed.
"Theorectically an Archmage is a master in all schools of magic. In practice you will never get that kind of Archmage because there are actually some schools of magic which outright contradict or otherwise reject the use of other kinds of magic. Plus do you have any idea how many years of study that would take, even if it were possible?"
"I'm guessing it's a lot," Amber nodded. "Not going for it?"
"Naw. I don't like school that much," Saku replied. "I've sometimes thought about calling myself an Elemental Thaumaturge. It just sounds impressive."
"Absolutely," Amber grinned at him. "Much more impressive than 'Wizard' or 'Sorcerer'."
"See? This is exactly what I'm saying," Saku nodded. "Such over used titles. Personally, I blame humans. Especially fantasy writers. Too busy making up their own definitions to learn the real ones."
"Where's this coming from?" Amber asked. "Have actually been learning things from that magical theory course you hate so much."
"It is the bane of my existance. And yes, yes I have," Saku sighed dramatically, then gave her a grin.
Amber smirked at him.
