She thought it was you

Liam and Tru

Liam crossed the street as though he were possessed. His heart pounded inside his chest like a hammer and his lungs felt as if they were about to burst.

He'd driven back from out of state to LA like a madman, stopping only once for fuel, and his body was ready to drop from exhaustion, but he had to check on Tru first.

Two days ago, he had sat through the most chilling conversation of his life, and he hadn't been able to get a hold of Tru since then.

He had no idea what the outcome of the chase had been. He didn't even know if Tru was alive.

His lungs felt like they were about to collape as he ran up the steps and into Wolfram and Hart, and his heart was racing, thudding heavily. The blood drummed in his ears so loudly that he thought maybe he had gone deaf.

He stopped at the sight of her, and he could tell before he even reached her that she was crying. Liam ran up to her, before throwing his arms around her, hugging her tight against his chest and kissing her forehead over and over.

"Thank God, thank God, thank God," he chanted in a faint whisper.

"Liam?" Tru tried to pull away. "What...?"

She was talking but he couldn't listen. He couldn't do anything but hold her, his relief was so overwhelming and his legs began to shake. He sank to the floor, pulling her with him and cradled her in his arms.

"I thought you were - "

"Lia's dead," she said blankly. "A car accident. She survived that, but then someone strangled her."

Liam felt the blood rush away from his face. "She thought it was you."

"Who did? What are you on about?" Tru looked on the verge of tears again.

"Get your Mom. We need to talk."
