"No, no!" Brand exclaimed.
"Brand, you were sent here to be protected by Faith," Wesley said calmly.
"I won't let her die for me!" Brand protested.
"She won't," Angel said, though he did not look overly convinced. "We're working on a way around it."
"This is stupid!" Brand shouted. "Send me back to whoever made me! I won't let this happen."
"Two many of the signs have already come to pass," Angel replied gently. "Faith has already faced off with the Son, long before you were sent to her. She bears the mark of the Father."
Brand shook his head almost violently. "No, you have to send me back! I won't! I won't let her die!"
"Brand," Angel said, stepping towards the teen. "Faith will be protected. We're by no means going to send her into this alone. She'll have me, Wes. Gunn. Giles and Willow. Sam and Dean."
"What good will they be?" Brand scorned, lashing out. "She's picked a human! He'll fall before she does."
"Sam is unlike most humans," Angel reassured him. "He has abilities that would surprise you. He will not let her die. Like the rest of us."

Lindsey listened to the conversation through the speaker in his office. Bugging Angel's office had come in handy as of late.
He returned his attention to a book he had stolen from Wesley's library.
"Sam Winchester," he mused. "You're a clever boy, aren't you?"
