Faith pushed through the door of the diner with one hand, the other hand entwined with Sam's.
"Ok, I officially cannot eat anything else deep fried..."
She trailed off when a familiar shag of hair caught her attention.
"Zac?"
Zac
Zac looked up.
"Faith?" he exclaimed.
His eyes flickered briefly over the guy she was holding hands with. Must be Sam.
Faith
Faith let go of Sam's hand and closed the distance between herself and her ex husband.
"Hey," she greeted, hesitating before giving him one of their standard awkward hugs.
She turned to Sam and Dean.
"Sam, Dean... this is Zac."
Sam & Dean
"Hi Zac," Sam nodded, awkwardly.
"Hey," Dean nodded in turn, before giving Sam a look and heading for the counter to order.
Zac
"Hey," Zac replied.
He paused, feeling slightly awkward.
"So. What brings you here?"
Faith
"Yeah," Faith said, shrugging. "Pretty much."
She paused.
"Touring?"
Zac
"Yep," Zac replied. "Just grabbing some food stuffs."
He nodded.
Faith
Faith paused awkwardly.
"Hey, did the girls catch up with you? Bit of a shock to see them all woman sized, right?"
Zac
"Yeah, just slightly," Zac agreed. "Look great though."
He grinned then and gave a melodramtic sigh.
"They grow up so fast don't they?" he chuckled.
Faith
Faith snickered.
"Yes, ours do."
She paused.
"How's the tour going?"
She slipped her hand absently back into Sam's.
Sam
"Tour?" Sam looked interested, having woken up a little at Faith's touch.
Zac
"In a band," Zac replied. "You're Sam right?"
He paused a moment, then held out his hand, deciding that this was the normal thing to do.
Sam & Dean
"Yeah, Sam... Winchester," Sam wasn't sure if he should use his real name, but figured he wasn't about to turn Faith in, so...
He stepped forward to shake Zac's hand.
"And that's my brother, Dean," he pointed to where Dean was chatting up a waitress.
Zac
Zac shook Sam's hand and glanced over at Dean.
"Cool," he said looking back at Sam. "So..."
Faith
"Oh hey, I heard about Ike's wedding, but I lost his number. Tell him congrats for me," Faith said, breaking the awkward silence.
Zac
"Yeah, I will," Zac nodded.
"Ahem," said one of the waitresses. "Your foods' ready."
"Ahh, thanks."
"Would you like a bag?"
"Yes thanks."
"Okay, be right back."
Sam & Dean
"Who's Ike?" Sam asked Faith while the waitress spoke to Zac.
Dean soonmade his way over again.
"Dude, this place is out of bacon. How can I place like this be out of bacon?! But nevermind, I ordered me some pie," Dean patted his stomache.
Sam rolled his eyes.
Faith
"Zac's brother," Faith told Sam, squeezing his hand lightly.
"Mmm, pie."
Zac
"Pie is good," Zac nodded, turning back to the conversation. "Who's my brother?"
He leant on the counter whilst he waited.
Faith
"Isaac. Or Taylor. Or Mack. Take your pick, really," Faith shrugged. "Personally, Mack was always my favourite out of you guys. Avie's my favourite girl, but only coz she's cheeky."
She nodded.
"I enjoy that."
Sam & Dean
"That's... a few siblings," Sam pulled an impressed face.
"Yeah Sam only ever needed one, because he was perfect," Dean nodded with a grin.
Zac
"Aww you choose the flier over me?" Zac pouted. "I'm hurt. No really. I am."
He couldn't hold it and grinned broadly.
Faith
"The Hanson's... they're breeders. But they come from good stock," Faith teased. "Mmmm, Walker."
She grinned.
"Yeah, everyone loves Mack. Trust me. That kid is gonna be a hit with the girls."
Sam & Dean
"And they're all aliens, right?" Sam asked as Dean was obviously calculating in his head.
"Hansons... why do I know that name?" Dean looked confused.
Zac
Zac raised his eyebrows.
"Good stock?" he repeated. "Right so... the word 'cow' doesn't come to mind whatsoever."
Faith
"Yeah, they're aliens," Faith told Sam.
She grinned at Zac.
"Dude, you're from Tulsa. Land of the cows."
Sam & Dean
Sam grinned suddenly, just realising the connection that Dean was trying to make.
"You're in a band, right?" Dean asked Zac.
Zac
The waitress returned then with a couple of bags and started putting Zac's order into them.
"Yep," Zac replied.
Dean & Sam
"Oh my God," Dean turned his back, still side by side to Sam.
"She married Zac Hanson."
"Yeah, we got that," Sam nodded to him.
Faith
"Drummers do it with rhythm," Faith said with a perfectly straight face.
She let go of Sam's hand and head for the counter to order.
"I'm gonna get food, and if you pay for me, I'll make it worth your while," she tossed over her shoulder.
Zac
"And good timing," Zac added. "And speaking of time..."
Yeah, he was just going to ignore that last comment.
Sam & Faith
Sam watched after her as Dean just chuckled to himself, eyes to the floor.
Unsure whether he should say anything else to Zac - despite him being a lot smaller in build, the whole fame thing was a bit intimidating - he followed her over to the counter.
Faith
Faith smiled as she felt Sam come up behind her.
"Hey gorgeous," she said, eyes scanning the menu.
Zac
Zac picked up the food off the counter.
"So, uhh, nice to finally meet you and all that," he said to Dean.
Dean & Sam
"Yeah, sure," Dean nodded with a smile, "see you around."
"Hey," Sam slid his hand around Faith's waist adoringly.
Faith
Faith leaned against Sam, resting her head on his shoulder for a second.
"I still stand by my earlier sentiment," she said, glancing over the menu again. "If I eat anything else deep fried, I think my stomach is just going to explode."
Sam
"Easy solution; don't."
He looked over his shoulder.
"It was good to meet you too, Zac."
As awkward as it had been.
Faith
Faith turned and sketched a salute in Zac's direction.
"I'll give you a call later, let you know Tru and Lia's movements."
She returned her attention to Sam.
"So smart, with all the answers."
Zac
"Sure," Zac replied. "Appreciate that. See you later then."
He waved awkwardly (all those bags) and left the diner. Okay, cool. That was random, but it seemed to go okay. Awkward, but it could have been a lot worse. He's take awkward over some other options he could think of.
